Thank god, a bunch of pudding heads we are.
Apart from one appalling preachy lecture lecture line that was a third top-rate episode in succession! Even though I could tell what was coming all along, that was because it actually made a certain amount of proper fairytale sense and got it right. Yeah, it was a proper fairytale episode. And I'd rather see a return visit by the class than by James Corden.
That was a good episode, next weeks looks like eyebrows! I was afraid the kids were going to make the show too silly but enjoyed the story. Only odd thing was the end with the sister, could have been done a little better.
I enjoyed this ep but the children are too young to go to coal hill.
Well, I'm glad that's over. Capaldi, Coleman, Anderson and the Green Earth (along with some other admittedly fine effects work) were perhaps this episode's saving graces for me. It was certainly a risky episode, being child-centric, and I suppose the kids acquitted themselves reasonably well, but I found it all a little cringeworthy, silly, and lacking in real sparkle. I guess this was one for the kids, so maybe it should have been on at 6:20 rather than 8:20. And Missy seems to be doing a kind of Anthony Ainley impression.
Anyway, from the trailer, it looks like next week's episode will be far more compelling. This has me intrigued, to say the least.

I think I'm going to need to watch that again before I decide on a rating. There was a lot to like but a lot of it fell a little flat. The notion of the forests springing up all over the world was interesting, but setting it in London was a bit of a misstep, yeah we got to see all the landmarks covered in green, but where was everyone? A city of eight million and we see a handful of kids, one mum on a bike, and a small unit of soldiers with flamethrowers?
The kids were far less annoying than they could have been though. I liked their interactions with Capaldi, and I loved their reactions to the Tardis. The idea of it being the last days of humanity kinda snuck up on us but was quite powerful. The real reason for the forests was predictable but quite sweet.
Can't wait for next week!

I gave it meh but I'd rate it at 2 and a half stars myself. Slightly better than last weeks but not to much in it. I liked the humour but it was a bit baffling and at the end of the day, no one would really forget the day the earth was covered in trees. And those little sparkly things that talked were utterly random. My dad thought they were fairies! :P

I had to go with Meh on this one. Pretty much had the ending figured out as soon as I heard about fireproof trees and solar flares.
Its also probably the first time I've ever found myself getting bored in the middle of an episode. :/

I think this might be the weakest episode since the Sherwood and Listen ones. Not bad, but kinda half-baked. And Danny Pink, while he's far less anoying here than he's been ever before... I'm sorry, but I really don't think I can warm up to him.
Yes, a fun fairytale story sums it up. I am surprised the Doctor didn't connect the entities to the similar tree entities in the Christmas story of Eleven's. I really liked Danny's observation that Clara can act so Special Forces in just falling immediately into action with the Doctor without question. Also, Clara's not wanting to be the last of her kind was well played between Jenna and Capaldi and its comic twist with them watching the event in space and the Doctor hoping he was right about the airbag thing was pretty funny.
Yes, slightly surprised there wasn't a connection (in the little sense of a reference) to the Wooden King and the Forst of Cheam (from End of the World), seeing as the riter threw in an Axos reference.
Had been expecting that the Doctor would find a way to save the day by postponing the solar flares (so they'll eventually happen in Ark in Space/Beast Below or Mysterious Planet, or End of the World/Ark, etc etc) but the idea of it happening a lot and being Ok so long as the trees save us works out rather nicely...

Not only did I figure it out 10 minutes before the Doctor did, then I spent that time wondering if the trees caught Adrik.
Also, the Doctor was there when he world ended, and before it started too.

Even the Doctor has to remember that sometimes the best solution is to simply get the hell out of the way.
It was like M. Night Shyamalan collaborated with the winners of a Blue Peter contest. Everyone was not just out-of-character they didn't even act remotely authentic as human beings.
Very true. If there's a golden rule of fantastical fiction, then surely it's that you can be as fantastical as you want only as long as the characters act like people and don't make counter-natural or obviously contrived decisions. The writer of this episode doesn't seem to think so.
Yeah, I thought it was obvious too and couldn't believe it took the Doctor so long to figure it out.

Bbc America seems to be running the show at a high frame rate (which makes the show look like it's cheap and on video), but it's also making tgis episode very trippy.
Also, Clara's outfit is pretty distracting. Jenna isn't my type, yet I can't not look at her.
