Water is used to put out fires. The forest is presumably a reference to the forest that was used for the books in the library of the dead and wherein the Vashta Nerada laid their eggs. River is presumably River, but if she's the only water, where's Pond? My guess is that Amy rewrites what we've seen in the forest -- saving River from dying physically and so preventing her "data ghost" from having to be uploaded into the data core. Or something.
Very interesting postulation, that could be quite fun, seeing our current gang lurking in the background and cut into some of those scenes ala "More Troubles with Tribbles"
It would also look awful. The Tennant era wasn't filmed in high-def. We'd end up with something that looks like the classic Doctor Who with some scenes looking video-tapey and some scenes looking sharper on film.

Oh, I thought Tennant's last Series (Plus the Specials) was filmed in HD?

I'm amused by the idea that the vast majority of the DW watching public would even notice a switch from HD to non-HD, let alone wail in anguish.

I don't think most us would even know the difference but you're always going to have that minority who claims they can tell the difference.

There's a distinct change in picture texture between season four and season five. Watch "Forest of the Dead" on DVD, then follow it with "The Time of Angels," and you can see the difference.

In a way, it would be a throwback; I thought the change in picture texture in some of the old stories was kinda cool. :)

Everything from Waters of Mars onwards was filmed in HD.

Damn... I picked the wrong weekend to watch this... Had so much going on I had to split viewing into two segments and as a result, missed SO much... Here's hoping this is On Demand, as I forgot to DVR it..

The difference between HD and SD is pretty sharp, so to speak. There's a huge difference. Having said that, I'd be totally fine if they went back to SD to use footage from the past. No biggie there. So, notice, heck yes, wail, no way!

California Comcast dropped BBCA on Demand (Though, fortunately not the broadcast channel) in the beginning of February. Though, BBCA typically shows last week's episode before the new week's episode (IE: 5pm/8PM on the West Coast this week was Curse of the Black Sun and 6pm/9PM was The Doctor's Wife)

Rory is the "pretty one" :guffaw:
That's why she only showed the female companions to Amy. She wants to make her jealous and drive her off. I loved the Doctor's reaction when it hit him who she was talking about.

Was this scene editted out of the BBCA version? Either it was or I somehow missed it. I didn't see any past companions.

Mr Awe

That scene was in a totally different episode. Not this one

I can tell the difference in source material even in a finished product that is sub-HD. But don't factor that in too much. I'm a video editor and work with different digital formats and resolutions every day.

That being said, if I'm drawn into the story well enough, I won't notice or at least won't care. Then I will come in here to make fun of people who do care.

After all in Trials and Tribbleations, the TOS footage with DS9 characters inserted was different enough from the all new footage set on the 1701 to be easily spotted, but who really cared?

If it really is that big of a problem, it can always be gotten-around in-story. For instance, anytime we see 10 and Donna it would be through an on-board camera in Amy's space-suit, etc. Also, let's not forget that Tennant and Tate should be able to reprise their roles easily. We're not talking about decades ago here.

"The only water in the forest is the river".
Anyone care to speculate?

Interesting and might mean seeing David Tennant & Catherine Tate from that episode at least in archive footage. Of course, that might mean someone would have to cross their time line and I'm guessing that someone will be Amy.

Well, if they shoot new footage, they might have to CGI Catherine a bit.. Last time I saw her on Graham Norton, it looked as if she's lost quite a bit of weight..

On edit: Woops! Icemizer, you beat me to it!

I doubt that's it at all.

Sounds more like a clue to tell the Doctor to stop looking for Amy (who isn't there) and instead focus on River (who he probably has no idea is there). Wherever there is, but it won't be the library planet. "Forest" can represent anything. The lack of water except for River is pretty cut and dry.

Ooh, that Moffatt! Sometimes you just can't see the wood for the trees.

Tate has dropped a ton of weight and looks nothing like she did while filming for the series.

For the non-BSG fans both pictures are the same character played by the same actor. The character has gained quite a bit of weight off-screen while the actor hasn't. The extra weight is all in-story and courtesy of the make-up department. Adding weight is, relatively speaking, a cheap fix and not a problem.

It was an unreleased scene on the DVD set.

That wasn't real weight gain (Perhaps that's what you meant, but, it looked like you were indicating the actor really did gain all that weight), that was TV Magic weight gain, though, even with his shirt off, it was very well done

I believe the term the use is a fatsuit.
