Hello, Kevin, and welcome to the world of annoying, pointless, time-wasting plot contrivances. All Starbuck needs to do is scream, "He's got a gun," and the problem is taken care of.

Why didn't CTU find out if the reporter was even home when her laptop hacked into the UN?

I wonder if someone could just go into CTU, download something illegal onto a work computer with people watching and say, "Look what I found! It's on your computer, so it means you're a traitor!"

Best part of episode 3 - Asian cop!

Best part of episode 4 - "Damnit!" ending.

But yeah, Kevin is fucking embarrassing. If he turns out to be some secret Russian spy, I'm going to be pissed.

Come on, isin't obvious?

Kevin just got out of prison and somehow he knew how to find starbuck (even though CTU didn't know about her fake pre-life or identity so she must have covered her tracks pretty good, or at least better then some dumb red neck could figure out) and he got her phone number. No way that just happened.

Of course someone gave him the info when he was in prison, probably a russian mobster (since we already know a bunch of them were sent to jail a few years back thanks to Red), and he didn't know then (or still doesn't know) that soon they will put the screws to him in order to get to her. Yawn. "Cover up our plot/escape/wahtever or we kill your boyfriend and tell everyone your secret."

You know, this was mentioned somewhere else and I don't know if it came up here, but back in Season 7, Jack was in front of a Senate hearing spilling all his secrets... he's probably the last person that should go undercover.

Prinze isn't a good actor, but he's nowhere as bad as someone like Chris Klein. Prinze has proven he can somewhat act (The House of Yes) but he spent 15 years in stupid movies aimed for teeny boppers.

So...
Arnold Vosloo
Callum Keith Rennie
James Cromwell
Dennis Hopper
Peter Weller
Tony Todd
Nick Chinlund
Julian Sands
Zeljko Ivanek
Tzi Ma
Richard Burgi
Nestor Sorrano
Paul Blackthorne
Jon Voight
Paul McCrane
Zach Grenier
Rade Serbedzija
Thomas Kretschmann
Al Leong
Faran Tahir
John Hawkes
Misha Collins
Mark Sheppard
Patrick Kilpatrick
Peter Wingfield
David Anders
Tobin Bell
and now Jurgen Prochnow.

Any more recognizable bad guy actors left willing to play bad guys on TV? Where's Andrew Divoff? Lance Henriksen? Eric Roberts? Rutger Hauer? Ron Perlman? Gary Busey? Robert Davi? William Sadler? Billy Zane? John Glover? Michael Ironside?

I haven't watched all four episodes yet, and probably won't do it anyway, but I would like to add (? - haven't read all 504 posts), that the scene with Jack and his granddaughter would have been a better opener for the new season. Maybe it would have needed to be changed a little, but it was nice to see Jack relaxed for a while. They could have dragged that out for 24 episodes I think, with enough bears and such. The TV was right there for him to participate with the events anyhow.

And all those young CTU members are really discomforting, looked like the Spooks spin-off Code 9 or what it was called.

But has Kiefer Sutherland gets older, there has to be some anti-age thrown in I guess.

I'm surprised no one said anything about David Anders. Oh, wait, Sark reference.

Also, I don't get the Daleks reference.

Look! Chloe has been viewing child porn on her work computer!

Kudo's to Manny Coto again for adding some scifi under currents to 24. Jack is a scifi hero!! he has killed:

Baal (The russian sniper) from Stargate SG1
Davros (in name only but hey..) from Doctor Who
Leoben (not dead yet, but you know Jack will kill him too) from BSG.

Of course, I would love to so see Starbuck and Leoben in a scene together, sounds unlikley given Katie's character is at CTU and already has some jerk at her apartment to deal with, but hey.

One thing plot point that has me puzzled. So Fahad failed to kill his brother Omar and now Omar knows his brother was behind this. Fahad is on the run, Omar is still in power. Given that, why is Fahard still trying to buy the nuclear fuel rods? He is not in power in his country, his brother still is, so what will he do with the Rods? I'm wondering if there are some fuel-less bombs already made and he needs the rods to make them active so he can blow something up in America?

He also became friends with Dr. Bashir in season 6.

I think that Annie Wersching (former FBI agent Renee Walker) is a great actress. She's brilliant when it comes to expressing Walker's barely-suppressed emotional turmoil. She does this without the need for tears or histrionics (although Walker doesn't succeed in holding back her tears all the time). She's terrific even in quiet, simple, mundane scenes, like last night when Walker and Chloe chatted in the elevator.

IMHO, this actress is better than Katee Sackhoff. Katee, watch your costar and learn. And for the record, Wersching's clearly better than January Jones, the blonde robot from Mad Men who somehow received a Golden Globe nomination this year.

You know, after the bad "week" that Jack has had and the countless times that Jack's been right, I'm surprised that he's not permanent head of Homeland Security by this time.

What I'm wondering is why doesn't CTU hack Farhad's cellphone. Surely his older brother has his phone number.

I was wondering that when Farahad called the Russians WHILE walking around on the streets!

Sackhoff was terrific as Starbuck, but she's failed to impress me so far as Dana Walsh. This probably has something to do with her character's personal story, which looks like it will be a big distraction to the A-Story. It also doesn't help that Sackhoff is ridiculously overdressed for a data analyst.

Likewise, I'm impressed by Wersching, but she also has a much more interesting story thread in this one episode than Sackhoff has had in all four introductary episodes to this season. Actually, I'd go as far to say that the Rene Walker storyline is the only thing that's stood out as interseting to me so far. I'm less interested in yet another nuclear device in the hands of terrorists, more evil Russians, Presidents of all people doing the serious negotiating of treaties, CTU interpersonal drama, etc. Those things are all watchable, but a little tired.

Of course, Walker's thread is awfully reminiscent of Jack's story in season two, but what season hasn't liberally ripped off from that year? It's when the series peaked (IMO), after all.

So will Chloe show up and kill Kevin before he can hurt Dana, and then Dana and Chloe spend the rest of the season trying to pull a Weekend at Bernie's with Kevin's corpse?

Something is really bothering me about this season. Actually a few things, but the big thing is shouldn't Jack be the most recognizable guy in the world? I mean how many times has he saved the country, and he is still being called a cop killer and the show is portraying the NYPD and black guys playing Basketball as a bunch of thugs. How about a little more respect for the guy who has saved the country so many times.

As for Sackhoff, she is great as Starbuck, but I'm with Harvey considering her performance so far. I don't like her personal story at all (Really bringing the show down to a halt) and I wish she just wasn't so uptight. Maybe I'm just seeing her as Starbuck and can't get used to her being anything else, but hopefully as the season goes on, they really improve her character.

Loved seeing Renee back, even though I have to wonder if they are making one of the better stories of Season 7 irrelevant. I mean last year was a whole thing about Jack Baurizing her and her being different, but now we're finding out they are doing it either again, or it all didn't matter. While I really liked her actions last night (And Jack's reaction), I have to wonder if they will push her way too far. I hope she doesn't entirely lose her humanity.
