Ah. He had me checking IMDB to see if one of the servicemen was named Jim Harper and I hadn't noticed....
Thanks for explaining how fiction works, Captain Condescension. It's hard to have a discussion of the merits of certain actions without discussing events in the film. It's not "pretending" anything.
It served the purpose of giving the human characters that Superman is supposed to inspire to do greater things equal agency in saving the planet.
That's fine. But when you misrepresent events to make your point, don't be surprised if people object.
There was talk of Krytonite in the movie and Superman was weakened in MOS and Batman has been around for a while. So, it's possible that Bruce found a possible way to weaken Superman, he'd be ratehr crazy to go against a full powered Superman.
Well in MOS it was shown that even the different Kryptonian atmosphere onboard Zod's ship was enough to weaken Superman, so maybe Batman found a way to recreate that or project it over a large area of the city that they'd be meeting in.
When did this thread turn into a Marvel vs DC thing?
I want to see stuff about the new movie. I don't give a damn about what happened in the comics. Respectfully, argue about it somewhere else. There's plenty of room in the BBS for that stuff.
What's new with the freaking movie?![]()
You know, I really liked the scene, included in the trailer, where Superman lifted the solider and put him down, then asked "Are you okay?" I really wish they'd included a few more little touches like that. I think it would've offset the destruction and havoc.
I for one appreciated the overblown battle across the city. It finally satisfied an expectation of what such a battle between equally matched Super-forces should look like... opposed to the [still adored but] dated action sequence of the same battle in Superman II.
I swear if that scene ends with Batman about to kill a bloodied Superman only to be stopped by the (surprise!) appearance of Wonder Woman, I will walk out of the theater. Batman is awesome and all, but after what Superman was shown to do in Man of Steel, how does Batman not get his ass kicked?

I don't think this movie is for you![]()
Lord, just looking at that, I can hear him talking....Let's hope that Bale took his silly Batman voice with him....
No, I forgot the name of Col. Hardy, so I just used his call sign/unit ID from the movie.Guardian? Did I miss something?I rather liked that Lois and Gaurdian and Dr. Hamilton got to play a significant role in saving the planet and weren't just helpless "bystanders" waiting around for Superman to save the day on his own.
I note you didn't object to Snyder's misrepresentation of the likely death toll, though.
Fair enough. But I don't want to get into a fight over this...
FWIW, I practically cheered during the part in TDK where Batman used the special lenses, insofar as I finally got to see a live action Batman who had glowing white eyes like the comic books. In my mind, Bruce has always had special lenses in the mask, if for no other reason to make him creepier and to make it harder to identify him by eye color.
