‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

I think it has more to do with the fact that Star Trek is doing reasonably well with TV shows at the moment, as far as episode count goes the shortest of the current shows was thirty episodes at its own choice. There is no real reason to branch out to TV movies, and indeed the only reason Section 31 went that route was to accommodate Michelle Yeoh's schedule. If Section 31 were a success it might have led to more Star Trek TV movies, but since it didn't, best to stick with the proven success formula.
Perhaps. Even likely. But I think if there was a desire on the part of staff and actors to make one or a few (money allowing), they wouldn’t refuse because of one bad experience.

I’m not sure one bad (presumably—haven’t seen it) movie necessarily means no other movies. Cinema would have died an early death otherwise. Moreover, if the same people who make SNW to such acclaim made the movie, shouldn’t we be optimistic?
Optimistic that the studio would greenlight it?

Not a bit.

No. Optimistic that, in the unlikely event it did get made, it would be at least as good as the series has been. I have no illusions about it being greenlit.

We really do need a new franchise show that doesn't end after 3 seasons and 30 episodes and quickly forgotten about.

Star Trek and Star wars have been the most milked franchises and both are suffering in quality. I would like to see something else milked now. Farscape would be my choice. 😀
They have also been the most botched in the new adventures. They both have 1 or 2 good shows a piece.

Meh. I've greatly enjoyed every new Star Trek show of the new era, and as for the Disney plus Star Wars content, the only things I haven't greatly enjoyed have been The Acolyte and The Book of Boba Fett.

The only ones for the star trek side I thought are good is, prodigy, and lower decks. I like the characters and stories of SNW, but the characters come off as childish with very little professionalism.

On the star wars so, for one they have done more shows, so it might be 3 that I like. Mando S1,2,
Andor. I enjoyed the interaction for Vader and Kenobi, but everything surrounding it was pretty bleh.

Disco and Acolyte have been the biggest pieces of garbage that I have ever seen as an adult. I'm sure as a kid I watched some pretty horrible things. lol. But that is just my opinion take it as you will.

Edit: I forgot, I really enjoyed Picard season 3, mostly for the characters.

I'm curious: did you like all the past productions? Not one missed the mark?

Because, for me there is not one Trek series or Star Wars production that I haven't skipped episodes or opted out early due to characters.

Star Trek maybe bats .500, Star Wars isn't much higher.

I recently rewatched The Original Series, TNG, Voyager and Enterprise alongside the new shows as they came out, and I've got to agree, the modern era just doesn't have the same feeling of Hornblower-inspired professional space sailors doing their jobs. It's a mark in the 'negatives' column for me.

The Hornblower thing is a bit overblow, Especially if talking about BermanTrek. TOS and BermanTrek owe a lot more to the times they were made than to Hornblower. Especially in how the characters act.

The shows from all three Trek eras show people who are friendly and comfortable with each other.

They even joked on the Bridge.

I hope the navy hangs them from the highest yardarm!
