‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Renewed for Fifth and Final Season

I am. well maybe not SNW since it's premise already had a built in end point. But some shows I really wish they would. I think Disco would have benefited from more episodes. So many characters on that show needed more screen time. But I love shows that have a ton of episodes. Gun smoke is one of my all time favorites for example... 😂
You're laughing at your own favorites? :vulcan:

I can't keep up on shows I want to watch. Why add on more of a burden, especially when I see fans consistently griping over what these shows are doing to "ruin" Trek. This makes no sense.

It's more than half of TOS.

And fewer than half of TOS episodes were really good.

SNW's running a higher success rate, so far...

That I do not agree with. I would say. 75%.of TOS were great episodes. I would say about 40% of SNW..So about 8 great episodes. SNW has just too many silly episodes imo and it looks like we are getting more. But still I would not skip any of either show if I were doing re-watches.....neither have had any that bad If I had to skip because of quality...Spock's Brain and The music and cartoon crossover episodes of SNW... 😂

I don't see how 10 episodes a year can be a burden, unless you're watching 36 other series during the same year.

I mean, I do watch 36 other series a year, but a lot of them are cartoons so that's not exactly the same demand on your time.

Well, obviously the success rate is going to depend on whether you like the series at all.

Personally, looking at the first 20 episodes of both series and putting The Man Trap vs Strange New Worlds and Charlie X vs Children of the Comet etc., I'd give TOS 13 wins and SNW 7, so I'm not much of a SNW fan either.

Season 3's going up against Space Seed, A Taste of Armageddon, This Side of Paradise, Devil in the Dark, Errand of Mercy and City on the Edge of Forever, so I'll be surprised and happy if it can somehow beat that.

Ten isn't.

More is.

Here is what I don't like about these 10 episodes shows. They take forever to release a batch of 10. So we all end up watching a bunch of 10 episode series per year. Which all tend to get muddled up and forgotten within a year. Then when new episodes roll out 2-10 years later I have all but forgotten about them and moved on. So I have to now re-watch all the same damn stuff over again to refresh my memories. 😂 Nope I will take 2 or 3 good 24 episode a season shows over 10 episodes every 2 year shows any day of the week. There are so many new shows running at once now it's dizzying......

No I'm laughing at the fact that I enjoy 20 season series with 500 episodes while today's generation apparently can't be bothered with anything more than 50 episode total tv shows... 😂

Right. It won't even get what used to be standard for 2 seasons worth of episodes on network TV. 46 episodes is a paltry amount.
Current network seasons run 22 episodes so with 46 total, yeah it got two seasons. Plus if you also count ST: D season 2's 14 episodes which were centered on Pike, Spock and #1 and had the 1701 show up a lot - that's 60 episodes total.

Time is more valuable with other things.

As a young man I could spend 14 hours playing video games or randomly driving hours to a convention. I can't do that anymore; priorities shifted and life took on.s different tone.

Not did 20 episode plus seasons did I ever watch all episodes. I never had the time. Didn't care for it then and don't even more so now..

So laugh all you want. Life dictated other things for me in my 40 years.

Bro relax don't take it personally I'm not laughing at you. Sheesh... 😏

Yeah I know. I just wish they would not treat all streaming shows as basically mini series. I knew SNW would not get a load of episodes from the get go.

Having just done a TOS rewatch, I was struck by how much of a slog season three is to get through. Maybe two worthwhile episodes in there.

I have to admit, when I did my big Star Trek marathon a few years back and alternated between all of TOS, TNG, Voyager, Enterprise etc., alongside everything else that was being released at the time, TOS season 3 was the only one I lost momentum with.

I do mean to go back and finish the rest of the season someday, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
