Star Trek: Axanar

Their Kickstarter is at about 220 000$ with 11 days to go. A really decent amount but still far from their hoped-for final goal.

It serves to offend a large percentage of the viewers.
After reading through this thread, it seems to only offend 90+ percent of the people born with a stick up their ass. I'd consider that an added bonus! :rommie:

This. :techman:

"I think all righthinking people in this country are sick and tired of being told that ordinary, decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I'm certainly not! And I'm sick and tired of being told that I am."

I find techno-babble in Star Trek a LOT more offensive to my intelligence than what the Klingons called Kate Vernon's character.
I don't mind at all that in this instance they got ''real''...

So I agree with 137th Gebirg...

I quite love techno-babble, because it manages to put more science into fiction.

Define "large percentage". Is there any scientific evidence and links supporting your statements, or are you positing your opinion as fact?

I could just as easily say that a large percentage of the fandom is not offended by any of it (such as myself), and it would be just as valid (or invalid, as the case may be) as saying the opposite.

My mistake. The name "bitch, whore" is now officially not offensive so say a large percentage.

Does anyone know if they still plan on releasing this this year?

Probably not since they'll probably shoot this in the fall at the earliest, and for a 90-minute film I can guesstimate at least 6 months of VFX and post-production work at best...

Hyperbole helps no one, as it depends on the CONTEXT. But yes, in the full context of how the phrase was presented in 'Prelude to Axanar', I did not find it offensive.

Regarding the release date, if you are a Kickstarter backer and if you contribute enough to qualify for a DVD, Axanar currently expects to ship those around Dec. 2014 according to their Kickstarter page.

FYI the Axanar Kickstarter now stands right about $225,000 so they have what they need to rent a facility and start building sets.
