Are you referring to Buzz Hickey? Played by Jonathon Banks?

Edit: I just did some research on the character and his original name was supposed to be Pat Nichols, but that wasn't cleared due to legal reasons.

Just thought i'd give a plug to Dan Harmon's new Adult Swim show, Rick & Morty.

Anybody watching it? 6 episodes have aired, I recommend watching them all in a row. It's extremely whacked out, surreal sci-fi based comedy, but when you get used to it, after 2 or 3 episodes you'll be busting a gut. It's hilarious.

It's also full of lots of cool sci-fi concepts, it would be entertaining even if it wasn't so funny.

The acid reflux in the first episode took a little bit to acclimatize to but someone told the show to cut back on that for subsequent stories.

Rick and Morty is fantastical but it's taunting me.

In the garage, on a shelf there's a cardboard box clearly labelled "Time Travel Stuff" in marker pen and they completely ignore it, walking past that ticking bomb every episode so far.

    Bastards!

Smoking fucking gun no one wants to talk about!

Yeah, Buzz. I couldn't remember the characters's name (I kept wanting to call him "Mike," after his "Breaking Bad" character but knew that was wrong) and did a quick google search, which said that he was playing Pat Nichols

Jim Rash, Gillian Jacobs and Dani Pudi were on At midnight last night, dated 2014.02.25.

At Midnight is a Gameshow hosted by Chris Hardwick, where comedians are forced to fight twitter and other social media to the death for 30 minutes.

The winner is declared the funniest person in the world for the next 23 and a half hours (or until the next episode.)

I didn't know that Jim Rush won an Oscar! He wrote the screenplay for the Clooney movie The Descendants.

Yes, and when he joined his fellow writers on stage to accept their Oscars, typically, he officially became the first person to lampoon Anjelina Jolie's leg-thrust-out stance in that dress with the slit that went on forever. He was getting laughs while the main guy gave the acceptance speech. Talented dude.

And speaking of talented, I just got caught up on Community after watching just the first two episodes. The show is awsome again. What a pleasure and relief -- and no Chevy.

So anyone who's been following this thread knows that I caught up with the first three seasons via DVD. I had intended to get Season 4 as well but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Without Harmon it doesn't really seem worth it...and it's not like I haven't seen the majority of the episodes anyways.

I dunno, the completest in me is saying "get it." Is it worth going through at least once?

I think it is, overall it's not quite as good but the new guys did as good a job as could be expected. Chase seems to have been a dick behind the scenes which limited his role, especially in the puppet episode. They called back on other eps, esecially on the Darkest Timeline, and I felt it all worked. It's not as good, but there are some good moments. I'd say it's worth it.

Season 4 was in no way a disaster, it was 'Okay'. No reason not to watch it.

The humor was a little more sitcommish, they toned down and one dimensionalized some of the characters (Especially Britta) and they didn't have any major theme episodes except the puppet episode which didn't really work because everyone was behaving out of character.

But some of it is amusing and none of it is painful to watch. It's just not Community.

Season 4 was just there, and that's a horrible thing for a TV show that isn't on CBS.

Season 4 is decent. It's certainly not on the same level as the Harmon seasons, but it is by no means terrible. I thought "Herstory Of Dance" and the Jim Rash-scripted "Freaky Friday" episode were both excellent.

It occurred to me the other day that even the first three seasons have episodes that would not seem out of place in Season 4. The "Abed-as-Jesus" episode, the school election episode and the Bar Mitzvah episode spring to mind.

I disagree about those choices for episodes that would fit in season 4. Maybe the Bar Mitzvah episode. The other two though are brainy themed satirical episodes. Season 4 would never parody obscure Charlie Kaufman films.

The episodes in seasons 1-3 that I think would have fit into season 4 are more of the season 1 style episodes, like the Vaughn episodes and Professor Slater episodes, or that episode where Troy's grandmother spanked Britta, or the episode with the pottery/sailing classes. Or, the one where Troy turned 21.

Herstory of Dance was an ok episode but my problem with it is that they made Britta too stupid to make it possible. As Harmon observed in the season 5 premiere, they relieved Britta of all her intelligence in season 4. Her intelligence is supposed to be only slightly below average.

I'd compare it to the Simpsons, which has had several bad seasons.

It may be bad, but it's still Simpsons. At the end of the day, that's better than most other TV shows, most of which are cancelled. At least Community season 4 was still better than all the other NBC shows that didn't get picked up this year. For NBC, that list is (some of these ended on a good note, most were cancelled):

    “1600 Penn”
    “30 Rock”
    “Animal Practice”
    “Deception”
    “Do No Harm”
    “Go On”
    “Guys With Kids”
    “The New Normal”
    “The Office”
    “Ready for Love”
    “Rock Center With Brian Williams”
    “Smash”
    “Up All Night”
    “Whitney”

“1600 Penn” Exceptional. And when they switched the baby daddies in the final seconds of the final episode, I laughed my ass off.

“30 Rock” Ended is not the same as cancelled.

    “Animal Practice” Deserved death.

    “Deception” Dull.

“Do No Harm” Like Bruce Banner, This guy should have put a gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. Selfish piece of shit did not deserve a TV show.

“Go On” So funny. No idea what they were thinking.

“Guys With Kids” It grew on me. Family humour, one camera fun.

“The New Normal” Exceptional. It's got the least important guy form the Hangover in the lead! That should have translated into viewers and he should have gotten his friends from the Hangover to guest star! The little girl in this is now guesting on the Scott Baio sitcom See Dad Run, and I swear she's shot up a foot since The New Normal finished. She is going to be playing basket ball effortlessly soon.

“The Office” Ending is not the same as cancelled.

“Ready for Love” Game show piece of shit, who cares.

“Rock Center With Brian Williams” News doesn't count.

“Smash” I really liked this, but I can understand why it was cancelled. Everyone was always so grim and dour. Smash was the antiGlee.

“Up All Night” No one was ever up all night. Will Arnett rubs me the wrong way and it's not just because I want his wife... Oh? He divorced Amy last year? THE FOOL! I literally expected this comedy to be about the hours of Midnight to 6 am with a screaming baby and they're trying to not to kill each other or kill the baby. Not funny deserved cancellation.

“Whitney” Whitney was funny, so funny, the problem is that Whitney, who was the producer and writer too, thought that she needed to round off the series' edges with drama and relationship tragedy before they had absolutely proved themselves to their audience to be so funny some of the time that we must come back even if the comedy BRINGS US DOWN... You don't believe me that this show was funny? Whitney also produces/writes 2 Broke Girls which in her mind must have been the fluff piece she was probably forced to make so that they would let her do Whitney.

There are a couple of quality episodes, but mostly it'll just make you love season 5 that much more.

I did not enjoy tonight's episode, it felt like a season 4 episode, it was just there. I do love the teachers begin part of the show now, makes it so much better being some of the characters are missing. I'm shockingly not missing Troy that much.

I feel like you wooshed over my post, which specifically said some of those shows were ended not cancelled.

Basically I just copied and pasted the list of NBC shows from the link.

Yeah. It was a weird episode.
Though I did like old guy trying to punish Abed, because I agree, it feels like he doesn't face consequences for his behavior. Or it could be I'm getting really annoyed with the same old same old from Abed.

I think in real life, I wouldn't want to be around him for very long. He would annoy the crap out of me.

I liked the episode. I don't think it's anything like season 4, it was very introspective about Abed and Britta's characters. In some ways it was critical of Abed and Troy's relationship, casting Troy as an enabler. So when Troy is taken away Abed attempts to bully people into indulging his fantasy and ends up having to reach out on somebody else's terms.

It was a weird episode because, other than Chang's part of it, it wasn't a comedy episode. It was a drama episode, and the show's never really done an episode like that where it didn't go for comedy bits and just developed the characters' emotional state. The bit where Britta meets all her old anarchist friends and they judge her for not being financially successful was very well written, but it wasn't funny.
