Tattoos

^Agreed! We will have to start window shopping!

Maybe on a forearm!

I spend too much time looking at bad tattoos in lolcats. It will be fun to indulge in looking at well executed ones!

Actually, I don't know why i haven't thought about this before, but interestingly in Japan tattoos are quite taboo and associated with organized crime still. It has been changing, but it's still taboo to the degree that upon hearing of my plans to get a tattoo my sister who lives Japan recommended not getting one until I'd visited Japan and been to an onsen spring bath, simply because the vast majority do not allow people in who have tattoos.

My Japanese teacher said exactly the same thing to me. Apparently it's not so much of a problem for Westerners now though.

My jujutsu instructor (all-around nice guy and fantastic teacher) is covered in tattoos. Not full-body, but pretty close.

He goes to Japan every year, and he is always keen on informing onsen owners of his tattoos, and if they are comfortable with having him on their premises. So far he got a lot of odd looks but he was never turned down.

Probably, as Pingfah mentioned, because tattooed Westerners are not subject to the same kind of social disapproval as tattooed Japanese guys.

That's good to know! I shall inform my sister of this. And it's not lime I'd have time to get more then a my first one which would be on my left shoulder and no bigger than 4 inches or so in width at the most.

EDIT: GUYS I JUST HAD AN IDEA. What if? just what if, I got a Swedish Chef tattoo at some point? Tacky or awesome?

Daria: Umm, nice tattoo. Tribal?
Trent: Maori. I copied it out of Tattoo World's international issue.
Daria: Very graphic, and meaningful.
Trent Yeah, it makes a statement. You know what it is?
Daria: (thinking) I got a tattoo out of a magazine?
Trent: I got a tattoo out of a magazine.
(both laugh)

Do what you feel is right. :)

Exactly. You tattoos are for you, not for anyone else!

I disagree. Your decision to permanently mark your skin with a Muppet character should be entirely based on peer pressure.

Locutus, contrary.
Well, The Muppets are awesome, of course they deserve a place on my skin!

But yeah, maybe not the first tattoo I'll ever be getting. Got about three others I'd like to get first.
