^Well, that's what the tattoo artist is for! I consider myself an artist -- at least, my drawings are pretty good and my paintings are alright, so I drew some of my designs, but the tattoo artists' input was invaluable, because they know what works in their medium. I worked with them and changed things around to make turn my art into good tats. Find a great artist, explain what's in your head, and let them worry about transforming your thoughts into pictures! I think for my next tat I'm going to do just that. My best friend and I finally agreed on something we both want for a best friends' tattoo. We both like the idea of cats, and so we thought something that would be a tribute to my cat Max and her Snowball, both of whom we had when we met each other as teens, and both of whom died within the past three years. We want to aim for modern traditional style, but the tat has to complement both our existing work. We want the cats to be recognizable for who they are, but also somewhat stylized. They will complement eachother well, Max was a medium hair tuxedo, and Snowball, well, let's just say she wasn't especially creative when naming him. Anyway, we're going to go to a good artist, give her the details, and let her make the design. That will be awhile though, because we are both broke.
I'd rather chose #1. That second one looks a bit like the Enterprise getting towed away on a 2-lane road by the starfleet sign
Had my detailing done last night! The result? One mildly swollen, moderately tender, massively lovely forearm:
Nope, no color. Though there might be some blues in other work around it eventually. It's a Harry Clarke illustration from Faust, slightly modified because my forearm was too small for the original image (shrinking the image itself would have made detailing impossible) -- here's the original: I'm going to have another Faust illustration done on my ankle in December:
Probably, but it can't be worse than the one on my spine! I'm not looking forward to the swelling, though -- the forearm is pretty swollen, and will be for a couple more days most likely. Below-the-knees are notorious for swelling even more than below-the-elbows.
That is gorgeous TSQ! I've finally decided what to do on my other wrist, I am going to have my other son's name done in Korean. Not sure when I'll get to it. Maybe a birthday gift to self!
TSQ, who designed these tattoos? The style reminds me a little of some worky by Sulamith Wülfing: https://www.google.de/search?q=sulamith+w%C3%BClfing&biw=1280&bih=918&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=0pYWVOXfL8jXyQPynoK4Cw&sqi=2&ved=0CIoBEIke For example this one:
