Actually, that one really was done deliberately. It was seen during the great feud against the Regert family from the other side of town.
My one and only. This picture is from right after I got it about 5-6 years ago. It has faded significantly since then.
I wish I had gotten it more stylized instead of the straight black, but oh well. I had no idea what I was doing at the time.

. Colours fade more quickly than black (at least with my tattoos). Also, considering what kind of symbol it is, the simplicity of the tattoo is not a bad choice.

I am really partial to Firefly tattoos, there are a lot of great ones out there. Just saw this one:

I like the idea of the parasol alone, on the upper arm, like a rosetta window. Only problem for me would be those are not colours I am fond of, but I think it could be awesome and one of those tatts that looks lovely to anyone but fans recognize.

Wow. WOW. That is incredible. The one downside of knitting tattoos is that it's very difficult to do a good tattoo of the actual knitting. This "embroidery", however, blows me away.

My best friend wants to get best friend tats with me, but we're having a terrible time deciding what to get. We both like the same things, but when it comes to decorating ourselves, we have different aesthetics. She likes traditional nautical style, and is worried about getting anything too cute or pretty because "[she's] Asian and everything looks twee on [her]." We've been entertaining an anchor, but it's hard to decide. I wanted to do a few bars of the sheet music from Queen's "Your My Best Friend", but I don't think that's what she wants.
Why don't you get the same thing done in two different styles. I like the anchor idea, let her have a traditional one and you put the TSQ spin on an anchor. I would love to see that, even if you didn't get it done.
^That's an idea we're throwing around, and I did do an anchor sketch, but it's not quite right. It has to be something that's right for both of us.
The anchor itself is pretty awesome. The only thing that looks "off" to me is the ribbon--it feels like it's too slanted, if that makes sense.

^I think anchors are pretty common tattoos, I doubt most people's minds would jumpt straight to Popeye.
I agree. It could be the same symbol or picture, but in different style.
Have you asked your friend what she wants? Why don't you each write a list with five tattoo-ideas? Then you compare the lists and see, if you can agree on something. At least this would give you an idea what she likes.
