Agents of SHIELD. Season 1 Discussion Thread

I think maybe an attempt at some subtle humor. Simmons is loudly berating Coulson for his prostitutes, then an old man comes up with a couple of young ladies on his arm and tells Coulson that he needs to get his act together....

It would be funny if they turned it into a running gag. Maybe have Stan turn up once per season, like the SHIELDies just keep randomly running into this one guy.

Come to think of it, wasn't one of Stan's Iron Man cameos a Hefner type with a girl on each arm? Maybe it's the same guy.

Can I hold out a tiny bit of hope that we'll see Stan in a future episode too?

Well sure you can, why not? :D

You can hold out a lot of hope. By the looks of it, Stan just wanders into each scene he cameos and they incorporate whatever into it.

^ Yeah, I'm hoping for an episode a season. Plus, I'm looking forward to the Daredevil and Agent Carter cameos.

The hell you say! Yeah, if she were gonna die, she'd be dead already. They're just going to play this out as another means of making her the center of the story...now she'll have the martyr thing going on top of everything else.

Well, LOST had Boone's death, which had a whole "dying" episode, so it's not unprecedented to do it this way.

I am so confused! I saw the first episode in January, but then my DVR screwed up the following week, and I swear when I checked the episodes OnDemand, there were two episodes after the mid-series premiere before last nights (four a total of four). However, some posts here are saying that we had the mid-series premiere and this episode, only.

How many new episodes aired in January?

The Magical Place was January 7, Seeds was January 14.

Then we had a break. Now we've had T.R.A.C.K.S. and now we're having a break again.

So two.

ETA: TRACKS technically builds on Seeds, but if you missed it, it can probably be watched out of order.

Probably just as much as HYDRA, F.Z.Z.T., and T.R.A.C.K.S.

The show seems to have fun with Marvel naming conventions.

That was a great episode. I loved the Rashoman-like storytelling device, and the fact that it gave everyone a decent part in the action and reversed our expectations about what happened (especially with the "disappearing train" bit). I also liked that this was a more conventional spy story than most.

Good to see Morris from 24 staying busy, and Ming-Na has never looked better.

I knew Skye wasn't going to die, but it didn't make her getting shot (twice!) any less shocking or heartwrenching, and the rest of the team really sold their anger and anguish well. I can't wait to see how they resolve the issue when the next episode airs.

When Skye was shot, I thought for sure that was going to be how her Wonder Twin powers would activate, seeing as they gave ominous hints about how dangerous she would be throughout the episode.

Mike's situation is equally tragic. The poor guy just got his life and "honor" back after being manipulated by Centipede, and now he's just a shell of a man being manipulated again.

BTW, a hyperbaric chamber is a real thing, no? Does it have any relevance to what it did in the episode?
