Good episode, I think I liked it better than pilot since it wasn't a "Freak of the Week" episode. Characters are growing on me a bit, though it may take me a while to grow to like the two geeks who chatter and finish each other's sentences like they're twins in a comedy.

i'm not a big marvel fan, but i've enjoyed their movies. I'm also enjoying this show. So i'm sticking it out for the rest of the season.
This episode sucked IMO. The writing called a huge amount of attention to the cliches being used, whereas the first episode was good at hanging lanterns on that stuff instead of just being obvious.
I hope the first episode is a better indicator of the quality of the writing for this show than the second. The first episode worked because it was fun whereas this episode's every attempt to be fun felt hackneyed.

Maybe he'll do a full episode or two at some point. Russell Crowe and his co-stars from Robin Hood did a full episode of Republic of Doyle.

I'm getting the vibe that whoever speculated upthread that Coulson might be something like an LMD (I'd say "synthezoid", they have a good hunk of the Marvel universe to play with) of an old agent isn't entirely off the mark. Coulson seems to have a lot of attachment to old things.
Speaking of the Marvel universe, another drinkworthy reference--the plane's flight number was 616.
