We don't unambiguously know that Eccleston follows McGann. True, there's a lot of evidence in that direction -- the line in "School Reunion," the artwork in "The Journal of Impossible Things," the Cybermen's data thing in "The Next Doctor" -- but there's nothing that would outright prevent a Doctor (or two) between McGann and Eccleston. Just because Paul Cornell says that "The Scream of the Shalka" is Unbound now, that doesn't mean that it is. :)

Wait, is the tenth Doctor's hair correct in that picture? It was less spikey during Rose's time, but that flat?

We don't know for sure that Eccleston immediately followed McGann, but it's been strongly implied. That would be a cheap and easy way to include a past Doctor without actually getting an actor who played a past Doctor.

IF that rumor is true, I don't approve. Just get an actual Doctor that we've seen. But, it's a big IF at this point.

If this is the way we could ever get John Hurt as the Doctor -- because, let me be frank, Hurt would be fantastic as the Doctor -- then I don't care that it's breaking what people think of as the show's history.

What matters is the execution, not the idea. Conceptually, the idea isn't a bad one. It's no different than what "Brain of Morbius" did, it's no different what what Andrew Cartmel did -- it's restoring a lot of mystery to the character of the Doctor because it's saying, "The things you think you know are true? Well, they're not true." It really depends on whether or not the execution pulls it off.

If the rumor is true, I have to say that I'm really intrigued. :)

I agree that it could be an intriguing story. I'm open to that. However, if they don't bring in a classic Doctor but they do bring in a new previous Doctor, I wouldn't like that.

On the other hand, if they do bring in a classic Doctor and they have Hurt as well, that's just fine! :)

I just don't want Hurt at the expense of a classic Doctor. I don't mind what such a development would do the series history though, as long as it was a good story.

Could Hurt be the and older or a somehow altered version of Mcganns 8th doctor? seems unlikely though

If that's not a Doctor-ish outfit I'd like to know what is! (In fact it's pretty much half-McGann half-Eccleston.)

It could be the same thing as, for whatever reason, the UNIT woman is wearing the 4th Doctor's scarf. (Of course, maybe in the show that woman is just a fan of that incarnation.)

Definitely not the same person walking next to the Zygon, different boots.

Forgive my ignorance in this area, but is that the same kind of leather jacket Eccleston wore? It looks similar, but not quite the same.
