I have no love for Bill or Hillary... I believe that any REAL love in their marriage died a long time ago and that their relationship has been one of political convenience and advancement. That in of itself would be reason enough not to vote for her.

Just playing devils advocate here, but say, if this man still had the reputation he had, but you agreed whole heartily with his policies, would you vote for him?

I understand what you are saying here, so I'll give my 2 (expired) Lire. If a politician's ideas were actually good for the country, and he had a the ability to implement them, I wouldn't care if he was rolling in whores, cocaine and dead puppies. Now, the issue with Berlusconi's act was not that he was horrible human being (he is), but that his underage prostitution troubles occupied his mind much more than his work as Prime Minister, the fact that he could be easily blackmailed for it and thus a liability for the country, and that his sheanigans prevented him from being taken seriously by the other political leaders. And that is saying nothing of his actual ideas, which run the gamut from politically appalling to fucking nuts.

Just to say, in the end, I don't think that's really comparable with anything Bill did, let alone Hillary (which at worse was keeping up a shaken marriage for political convenience: even if true, hardly a condemning fault).

Setting aside the ridiculous notion that your opinion of their relationship, based on no inside knowledge, and relating in no way to her ability to govern, should determine your vote...

How do you know they're in a loveless marriage of political convenience? More than a third of married couples stay together after a spouse has an affair, and that number has a better chance of succeeding if they seek marriage counseling. Maybe they're part of that 35%?

Furthermore, I think the days of Hillary needing a boost from Bill to advance on the political scene are over. She's quite well established on her own, which is not to say Bill campaigning for her isn't helpful, it's just that even if he wasn't involved, she would likely still do just fine now.

Ridiculous in your opinion only, just as my opinion is mine... Just because you have a notion that the way we behave in our personal lives has no bearing on our professional careers, doesn't mean you're right OR that I'm right..

Maybe they ARE part of that 35%... But my belief is that had she not seen the value (politically) of them staying together, she probably would have left him long ago.. It's just a feeling I get..

It's ridiculous because Hillary didn't do anything wrong, so holding her responsible is unfair. It's ridiculous because on one hand you're holding up traditional marriage values while on the other hand you're criticizing someone for keeping their marriage intact through adversity. It's ridiculous because you have no proof of the validity of your opinion on their relationship status, yet are willing to hold it against her. It's ridiculous because I bet you have overlooked the actual infidelities of numerous conservative politicians who more closely adhere to your political beliefs when voting, while taking Hillary Clinton to task for something she was the victim of and not the perpetrator.
