Eureka: Final Season (Discussion, spoilers, etc.)

Okay, I'll buy that.
But she ain't "The" Holly. Just "a" Holly. :)
It's probably impossible to really know, under the circumstances....

Since Parish lost out to Fargo, but she still seems friendly with him, does that mean she's Parish's buddy, Holly?
If she joins Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show, she'll be Holly-- Holy.

I just realized this development for Henry makes no sense at all. How come he has never received any clandestine messages from Senator Wen since they've been in the new timeline? Plus his interaction with Beverly should have been a lot different during the Astraeus/Matrix thing.

The writers really dropped the ball here.

I think you've been hitting the Red Red Wine a little too hard....

^^ It is. Very interesting. Eureka won't be going down that road, though-- as far as they're concerned, it's the real Holly.

I was just thinking that, too. I was trying to remember specific interactions. Maybe this will all be explained in the next episode.

"I am," I said.

This is what Wen thought the whole time...

"MY GOD!!! This man is MAGNIFICENT! The effort, the attention to detail! If I didn't know better, and I do know better, I'd almost swear that henry has no idea what we have done to his wife, what he has done to his wife, the unbelievable level of commitment to the cause by this PATRIOT to sacrifice his wife for the greater good stirs my cockles!"

That.

On a loop.

The whole time.

Ah.

It all makes sense now.

Tonight, Episode 5:12 Double Take

The people of Eureka are being kidnapped and replaced by body doubles one by one unless Allison, Fargo and Zane can figure out how to avoid capture and save their town.

Savor the flavor, not much left to go.

Yeah, this is pretty much the last regular episode. Next week is the "epilogue" episode.

The trifecta!

"So in this scenario, you're han Solo?"

"Silent mode! Silent mode Frack me!

"like they say: resitance is futile"

Oh.

They just said Replicant.

What do you call it when you win four in a row during a day at the races?

Of course they've been saying "The Matrix" all season, but that's still 5.

So, guessing the whole end segment was tacked on to lead into the finale?

Also, why did what's-his-name that runs the coffee shop tell Carter and Allison "sorry about the freezer thing"? It's not like any of the 3 were there when his clone locked everyone in it. Or maybe he wasn't a clone and just took the cowardly way out by giving everyone up? traitor! traitor!!

Nah, he was cloned too - we saw him on one of the stasis beds.

btw, I've worked at a DoD contractor for 30 years now, and while I see military personnel all the time as customers coming to check out their product in development, I have never, ever, seen an armed military security person come to confiscate or investigate anything. Even when we had an ITAR (export) breach and were fined 10 million bucks; even when a classified chart was accidentally slipped into an unclassified presentation, emailed to 50 of us and we all had to have or PCs confiscated, it was all handled by internal security and specific non-military government agencies like DCSS.

I thought that was pretty good. At least it was explained to where it made sense (Eureka sense, anyway). There were some good scary moments. Computer Carter was downright creepy!

So yeah, I agree that stuff at the end looked tacked-on for the finale. It's really too bad the show is ending like this. I really hate that you can invest years in a show and not get a "proper" finale. At least we get something, so I guess we should be grateful for that.

^Well, it is getting a "proper" finale, just not an entire season devoted to a finale.

which leaves the mystery of why he apologized about the freezer when none of the real them were involved.

Well, GD seems to be a government owned "company" of some kind. So I could see military personnel getting directly involved.

I guess we'd have to check with somebody who works at Lockheed or something like that, see if they've ever experienced such a thing.

btw, that Hithcock-zoom moment when Ali's kid-clone showed up was the creepiest moment EVAH on this show.

super creepy.

Alison is going to go to lengths to make sure that her real baby doesn't remeind her of her fake preschooler.

She will never have that hair cut.

Oh.

Would Alison be crazy enough to make her kid into a fatty?

NPC Carter was pretty creepy, but NPC Jenna was creepier.

This was a good episode, with lots of good character moments for everybody. I liked the scenes with Zane and Wil Wheaton. And they went all out with the special effects-- that car crash was pretty impressive. But still no resolution for Henry and Grace; that probably would have been the focus of the final six and we'll get the Cliff's Notes next week.

I didn't get the feeling that the ending was tacked on. It felt more like a regular season cliffhanger. Holly's memory is screwed up and Eureka is being shut down-- tune in next January! Next week will feel like a clip show.

I love Wil Wheaton's character, but, for a moment, I was kind of hoping that Zane had killed the wrong one. It certainly would have upended expectations for that scene!
