Eureka: Final Season (Discussion, spoilers, etc.)

I've waited a few days after seeing the episode to comment and, overall, I was happy with what we got. As another poster said, I'm a fan of the "life goes on" series finales, rather than the "the show's ending, everybody is going off in separate directions" finales. Not that there aren't good examples of the latter, it's just that I think it takes more time to set up valid reasons why people are headed off to different chapters of their life than to shoehorn that into the last episode. I guess I view a television series as a "window" into the life of the characters and I'm usually more satisfied with the thought that I may not be able to see into these characters lives, but at least I have an inkling of what they are doing.
I have to agree with you here, at least when it comes to more episodic stuff like Eureka or even TNG. There are some shows like Lost, or BSG that need to have a real hard conclusion, but for this kind of day in the life show, it feels a lot better when you can image the characters are still out there having adventures and going about there lives.

I liked how it ended just as the pilot began. I am just glad fargo got rid of the beard. Also felt sorry for holly having to parish in the buff. Did not know that vincent was GAY?

Tomarrow warehouse 13 season 3 marathon on sy fy.

It never came up in the show until perish showed up in the nude.

This was probably the most direct reference:

Carl: (Kisses Beverly)
Taggart: I’ve always wanted to do that.
Spencer: Who hasn’t?
Vincent: Even I’ve thought about it.

Season 1, episode 5

You didn't know that Vincent was Gay? :D

That's like saying you didn't know RuPaul was gay.

Wait! RuPaul is gay?

I thought RuPaul is a transvestite or transsexual. Transvestites are not necessarily gay. I understand a lot of heterosexuals go halfway by just wearing the underwear. And with transsexuals, my understanding is that they generally are attracted to the opposite of the sex they identify with. So, stupid as it may sound, I don't know if RuPaul is gay either.

As with the scene in the finale, the show never really "outed" Vincent, though they did drop little tidbits. It's a shame, though, since Vincent spent 5 seasons taking care of the residents of Eureka, it would be nice to know he had someone in his life who was taking care of him.

^^ True. We never saw anything of his life beyond Cafe Diem. Unless that was his whole life. That would be a good plot thread for a Eureka TV movie.

There was also this bit from, season 2, "Games People Play":
Vincent: Oh, you got a new deputy? That's great!
Carter: I didn't get a new deputy, I have a deputy. Deputy Jo Lupo.
Vincent: (whispering) Is he cute?
Carter: Okay, now you're just bugging me.

Granted, that Vincent was a programmed version in Beverly's therapy goggles that utilized a virtual Eureka, but you could argue that Beverly programmed that Vincent to react in the same way the real Vincent would.

Part of me wonders what it'd be like if Vincent lived in a SMART house. It would be funny if the guy who spends his entire day making food for everyone lived in a house that made his food.

I could also see Vincent living at Cafe Diem, ready if someone has a need for a late night snack, a night cap, or some warm milk. Again, though, since he's always seen to the needs of the townspeople, I'd like to think he has someone who's there for him.

I honestly never really thought about it, but it is a shame we never learned more about Vincent outside of Cafe Diem. He was a great character, and I would have loved to learn more about him.

I mentioned it a few pages back, but the actor played a Luddite terrorist called "Vincent" on Continuum a couple weeks back.

Maybe Oldspice took away his pantry?

Maybe on The Food Channel?
Didn't Sciffy try a cooking show once, among their myriad of "reality" shows?

Marcel's Quantum Kitchen.

It's ratings got as low as 0.1 and it doesn't appear to have been renewed. I think they went the wrong way. If they wanted a cooking show, they should have gone with...

Cooking with Neelix!!

Or a cooking show with Neelix and Vincent together. That would be quite a team.
