Just for a second, when they cut to the senator waking up in the jail cell, I thought it was Holly waking up in captivity somewhere.

But I wonder if they will somehow address the alternate timeline reboot before the end. If the original timeline is restored, Holly might be alive-- but Allison's kid would be developmentally disabled again and Henry would no longer have Grace. I'm wondering if somehow Dr Old Spice will show up again and need to be returned to the past (with knowledge of the future), and that this will somehow result in a merged timeline that is the best of all worlds. Such a happy ending would be appropriate for Eureka.

Honestly, at this point I like the new timeline better, so I'd be disappointed if they completely erased it.

Unless you're a Red Dwarf fan, because then......eew.

^That WOULD be a great way to end it. I fear, however, that we might end up with just another "mishap of the week" episode.

^^ Yeah, the problem is that they had planned for that final season or final six episodes or whatever and then got cancelled. I'm suspecting that the one extra episode they were given will turn out to be a "summary" of what they were going to do.

I don't think they would ever completely erase it, if only because of Allison's kid.

Pretty good so far this season. I'm glad the holo- Eureka storyline was wrapped up so early on in the season. I would have been a little disappointed if the entire season was spent mostly in a hologram. I want to see these characters live their lives in the real town of Eureka in this final season.

    Tonight, Episode 5:04 Friendly Fire

"Carter and Jo race to save the town from a rampaging fireball bent on igniting every source of combustion it can find after a smart-fire experiment goes horribly wrong."

Looks like it's back to wacky science out of control.

Pretty good episode. The fireball stuff was pretty fun, and I was glad to see them acknowledging what happened in the computer program, although I thought some of the reactions were a little extreme. And I could have sworn Jo moved out of S.A.R.A.H already.

^^ She was on walkabout, so she must have had no other place to go when she came back.

So the VR machine has caused some issue with their brain waves that might be an indication of a larger problem. Could this be the plot device that will eventually require that they change the timeline again?

The ending with Parrish and Fargo was equally sweet and creepy. I guess it wouldn't be so weird if Parrish's hatred of Fargo was based solely on their competing for Holly's affection. Then it'd be understandable, because he could have realized with Holly dead, there was no use to continue their rivalry.

However, Parrish has other reasons for disliking Fargo that Pre-date Holly and I doubt her death would really change his opinion of Fargo. It would have been more Parrish-like if he used Fargo's grief to argue for his removal of Fargo as head of GD.

I do miss some of the first season flavor when you'd actually have some of the scientists trying to sabotage or even kill each other on purpose. Conflict is the essence of humor.

He did initially say something about Fargo's judgment because he had lost his girlfriend.

I thought the moment was sweet and nicely done. They have had others (like when the Astraeus departed) that m ake that scene not all that out of character.

Yes, but Parrish also had feelings for Holly and is mourning her loss, just as Fargo is, so there is some reason for him to feel sympathy for the guy.

I liked the moment, myself. It made them seem a little bit more like grownups than spoiled children playing with potentially deadly experiments.

Yes, it seems like Parrish has gotten some perspective and realized that he really is an asshat. I thought it was a nice scene. "So do you want to play?" A perfect line for those two in that situation.

Just to clarify, I'm not unhappy with the scene, it was just a little jarring, given that Parrish has never been played as a character to show that sympathy (unless he was brainwashed, as in the season opener). I do hope the two become friends and them playing D&D is a great way to start that friendship off.

ka often takes "bad guys" and gives them something that you can like about them. Nathan Stark is a great example. He could have just been the antagonist throughout, but you could grow to respect him, and see how things like his rivalry with Carter turned into mutual respect (to a degree).

I thought that was a great & fitting scene. dedfinitely worthy of a show wrapping up.

And Fargo and Parrish had a burying of the hatch moment at the end of last season when Fargo acknowledge Parrish's contribution to the mission.
