Terra Nova season one 09/26/11:

the count down begins we are twenty days away. and, I am excited about this show. and I was wondering who is looking forward to it? and how many of you think this will make it as a show?

monday night I think just got better.

Every year, it seems that the hyped shows turn out to be crap. I am not getting excited about anything. It is sad though that the new fall season will be sadly lacking in science fiction and fantasy.

I will be waiting for the 10-12 episode seasons of the cable shows like Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and True Blood. Hell, I even enjoyed Camelot last year and am hoping that that show finds its way to a second season.

i'm looking forward to it. maybe it can keep me interested for more than four or five episodes. i think it will be like Falling Skies, looks promising but i'll quickly lose interest.

I was looking forward to this show until I saw the previews. There's just something about them that has completely killed my interest.

I'll wait out the first season and then give it a shot on DVD if (a) it is good and (b) it doesn't get cancelled.

The concept has potential, but unfortunately with Braga and Spielberg involved, I just know it's going to be bland and safe and family friendly as hell.

Whilst I'll have to wait longer till it hits this side of the pond. Not sure If I'll tune in, after all will it be canned after 1 year due to cost?

wow a lot nay sayer's for this show and it has'nt even started yet. I know it's fox and all but hopefully it'll be one of the few like fringe or x-files.

From what I've been hearing...

1. The dinos look great.

2. The characters are cardboard bores. (Steven Lang will probably distinguish himself tho.)

So it's anyone's guess what happens with the ratings. It will get big numbers for the premiere but dinos alone can't keep the numbers buoyant if the humans don't step up to the plate. Given the production costs, the expectations for ratings will be high.

I have a feeling I'll be watching until the series is cancelled, before the end of the first season.

Par for the course around here, ain't it? :D

There's a fair amount, and some of it actually sounds pretty promising. Yknow what, this deserves a separate thread...

If it becomes popular, I'll give it a shot. The previews just don't do anything for me.

now I am wondering why did they pick the dino era in earth's past when they Know there's a asteriod coming to wipe them outl. would'nt that make this show alternate history then not sci fi?

The dinosaurs were around for millions of years. There's plenty of time for humans to live before the asteroid hits.

Still, seems strange that they'd pick a time when there's millions of giant, extremely dangerous animals running around the planet. I'd probably try for one of the quieter eras myself.

Yeah, the previews have done absolutely nothing for me. I cringed at the premise, too, but the previews just killed it. I'll have to keep a spare ear out for the reviews, I guess.

From what I have read they didn't have control over when the wormhole ends up.

I wonder if there going to cover the asteriod impact as a story arc.
does anyone know what year they flee from the future and what kinda tech there supposed to have?

Yep, and also the presence in the past of all these future humans is bound to have a very "Sound of Thunder"-style ripple effect on history, unless it's a predestination paradox (i.e. their existence in the past was "always" a part of it).

Perhaps they set up their colony at ground zero of the asteroid hit. A guaranteed reset.

I would use the 20 million year between their arrival and the asteroid to develop the technology to get the hell off the planet.
