Find out what the hell the Artifact really was.Damn it. I hope it at least gets a decent wrap-up.
what kind of wrap-up does it really need? People want to see Jack and Allison get married? Perhaps the same for Zane and Jo?
While satisfying to shippers, these plots aren't necessary.
The only thing I really want to see is Beverly Barlow in custody. If they make that happen at any time, the series is concluded satisfactorily for me.
Read it here.
I'm shocked and saddened. Eureka is one of my favorite shows.
What's even sadder, for me, at least, is that if Blood and Chrome doesn't strike my fancy, I will now have absolutely no reason to watch SyFy.
Wow - this was one of the only good shows SyFy had going for it. One less reason to bother with the channel any longer.
And Blood/Chrome is gonna flop big time. This channel is dunzo.
This is the only show on Skiffy my wife watches. I check it out, but it's too campy for my tastes.
Syfy are batshit crazy. It's one of their highest rated shows! A show as cheap as this has to be profitable while still pulling over 2 million viewers, what are they thinking? And for the record, I don't like nor even watch the show, I just think Syfy are mental...
Who cares? The Carter/Allison pairing has always seemed forced to me. Drives me nuts.
ICYMI, here's Amy Berg on Eureka's cancellation: "Everyone is asking why. It's simple, really. We are the network's golden child in every way, except profit margins. Fact is, Eureka is an expensive show to make. And we could not maintain the quality of our show with the cuts it would take to make us profitable for Syfy's new parent company. Our creative execs at Syfy fought hard to keep us. Trust me, they LOVE us. We just couldn't make the numbers work."
Granted, 5 seasons isn't a "bad" run, but still....what is there to fall back on?
My guess is the actors are the most costly aspect. Every year that cost goes up, I'm sure.

Also, from here, he says that they have to wrap up the *entire series* with the episode which begins filming Thursday. I assume that to mean that everything but the very last episode has already been filmed.
Yeah, if anything it's got to be cheaper than Sanctuary, which uses a lot more CGI effects, and crazy makeup. How popular is Sanctuary?

The only thing I can think of is cast and crew salaries. Those are the main expense of a long running show, so I'm guessing those people have milked the show for all it's worth and ultimately milked themselves out of a job. Hell, even when SGU was renewed it was pulling lower numbers than Eureka is now, so their wage bill must be fucking huge, because the production qualities certainly don't point toward an expensive show.

CGI sets and effects are must cheaper than their practical counterparts, I doubt Sanctuary was more expensive. As for it's popularity its hard to tell, when it was moved into SGU's timeslot it did even worse than SGU did, one episode was as low as 750k viewers IIRC. It was usually aired with a wrestling lead-in though, and pulled about 1.4 million on average I believe.
LOL. was never gonna happen. What about the Star freaking Gate crossover?
