^ That's quite odd in this day and age! What kind? :)

It is?
No it isn't! -don't listen to her, her post was paid for by the oil-lobby.

Anyway--it's a Nakamura Phenom:

Gilda.jpg

I would have preferred a straight road bike, but the last (or first) third of my commute is through a wilderness reserve.

I call it "Gilda". Because I already have a love-hate relationship with it.

I love the thought of losing weight, being fitter, polluting less, getting to work in less time, and giving the finger to a city that hates anyone who doesn't drive a car.

But I hate exercise.

Walking and running is exercise -biking is getting some fresh weather while you take your time getting there :rommie:

Plus -of course- it's bound to be easier to find a place to park a bike than it is finding a place to park a car :bolian:

I just got a new (old'ish) Kildemoes 'Street' -perfect for my needs (even if I have to get the saddle up an inch or two) around town.

I swear by all that's unholy--the route from home to work, and back, is uphill both ways.

That shouldn't be possible. And yet, horribly, it's true.

^That reminds me of a poster one of the Sociology profs has on his door.

It says: "Heterosexuality isn't normal--it's just common."

The same could be said of "driving cars".

worst part is the wind invariably changing around noon so both ways you'll have to ride against it. :klingon:

So--I have something to look forward to?

I scored today at the used bookstore. First, the "just usual" haul:

  • Vulcan's Soul: Epiphany (hardcover) by Josepha Sherman & Susan Shwartz
  • If Wishes Were Horses by Anne McCaffrey
  • Crisis on Doona by Anne McCaffrey and Jody Lynn Nye
  • A little book of maps based on Redwall by Brian Jacques (a gift for a friend)
Now any other day, that'd be a pretty good bookstore run. But then I found these, all in near-mint condition, all for between $4.50 and $5.00 each:

I know hardcovers are pretty much worthless used, but still it was a treat to get these beautiful books for such a great deal. Combined with credit I already had at the store, I got all of the above for less than $20.00 today. I'm a very happy lady. :D

A bunch of movies on DVD, actually, my girlfriend bought them, but she picked up some titles that were on my list, so... Anyway, they are:

Big
Stir Crazy
Silver Streak
See No Evil Hear No Evil
Another You
The Frisco Kid
Heaven Can Wait
Hello Again

We are planing a movie marathon weekend, now and next weekend.

TOS communicator app for my phone. The sound effects and image replication are amazing - absolutely delighted with it! I don't know why I didn't think to look for this before. And it is complete with flick open and closed action! :D

My next task is to look for this for the Android platform. :D

I went to the local NHL franchise's annual warehouse sale today. I landed $425 worth of sticks for $100. :mallory: Here they are:

I'm using this one tonight in my game.

You gave yourself the answer. In most of the Western world people buy cars, not bikes. ;)

I have both, but I use my car. It is completely impractical for me to use my bike for transportation.

I ordered some Timothy pellets for my guinea pigs and some Barbie dolls for my collection. Yesterday, I ordered books. :D

*ears perk up* .... I collect vintage Barbie. PMing you!

I love movie marathon weekends! And Heaven Can Wait is one of my all time favorite movies. (The one with Warren Beatty.)

I bought Fifth Element for $3.99 on dvd. I plan on wearing ear plugs during the scenes with Chris Tucker.

My mother also collects vintage dolls. I agree on Heaven Can Wait, but I prefer the Reese Witherspoon one.

Purchased this for myself as a birthday gift a few days ago...
