When I was in Edmonton over the weekend, I bought an onyx pendant with a silver chain.

The onyx has a "druzy"--it had quartz crystals forming in it heart, like a geode. An attractive and interesting flaw that makes the pendant look like the eye of Sauron.

Plus, I bought it in an antique shop called the Black Swan. How cool is that?

I bought a backup battery for my garage door opener. I didn't even know my garage door opener needed a backup battery, until it started bleating incessantly and displaying a "REPLACE BACKUP BATTERY!" warning message.

It cost almost $30. That's a week's worth of wine! Stupid garage door opener.

I just returned from the Czech republic last Friday and while walking around in Prague, I saw something that I knew my wife would love. Its a harry potter marionette with real Czech porcelain head, arms and feet. It made it back home in one piece. She did like it, but has not learned how to work it yet.

In the last thead (around Oct '07) I posted that I bought a '01 Forester - after three years of biking to work, I'd finally gotten a new ride. Today, I got the "congratulations" notice from the bank - one last payment and the title is on it's way. Thing is... since I've had automatic car payments out of my checking account, and long since misplace my payments booklet, I thought I still had a year of payments to go. Man, its so much sweeter when it comes as a surprise!!
