DC to REBOOT???

The first comic book and DC title I read as an adult was Grant Morison's JLA series. I didn't really know what to expect or what to make of the stories, but they were always larger than life. The artwork was excellent, too. I also liked the ones done by Mark Waid.

The Earth-2 Admiral_Young shows up once in a while :) He's a bit like Owl-Man. I like Geoff Johns because as Dennis stated he made Green Lantern interesting again and brought me back to Superman for the first time since the late 90's. I'm on and off about his Flash stuff and I do think the "event" Green Lantern stuff has gotten a bit out of control and irrelevant...I wasn't fond of War of the Green Lantern's, mostly though I'll be thankful for Johns restoring my favorite version of the Legion!

Or loves dogs.

He's getting rebooted in two months anyway.
If only we were getting fresh, modern versions of DC editors, instead.

In any event, it reminds me of Marvel apologizing to the Tea Party. Fucking losers.

I did consider the very marginal possibility that DC just wants to stop placing foreigners (like Sharif) from made-up fakey places like "Qurac" (which got blowed up by a woman from a real country), and went about it in the dumbest manner possible. But... yeah, right.

And even if it was the cat, have they not seen the Internet? People love cats. A lot more than Superman. Superman needs to be associated with cats. It's how Batman got big--Frank Miller knew what he was doing when Batman saved a cat.

Whatever.
To which part, the part where Marvel heroically apologized for including a political message in a Captain America comic? Or the part where the editorial staff at DC, being real people, are not themselves subject to cosmic rejiggering?

I'm pretty sure both are true.

With 90 pages of comments, this might have already been mentioned, so apologies for the duplication: a writer for The Trades put out a rather strongly worded op-ed piece on the reboot that sort of sums up my feelings:

In a nutshell he compares his reaction to the 5 stages of grief, and while I wouldn't go so far as to say I've gone through the 5 stages myself - in the grand scheme of things, DC ruining itself isn't that big a deal to me - I have found myself experiencing a couple of these, and I'd say I'm in the acceptance phase: I'm simply enjoying the comics coming out over the last few months, and then when the reboot comes, that's the end, and I'll have plenty of older comics to enjoy. Maybe I'll spend the money I'd have normally spent on Action Comics 906 and Detective Comics and put it towards some reprints, or start buying Marvel.

I came across one rather bizarre post on the DC Comics message board, from someone stating "it's a great time to be a collector" because of all the #1s were about to see come out. Anyone with any experience in the reality of comic book collecting just did a  I'm sure reading that. Plus the fact, great, all these #1s are coming out. Too bad no one ever gives a damn about #2, #3, etc. Yet #1000 would have been spectacular.

Still, just as viewership of The Guiding Light spiked when its final episode after 75 years aired a couple seasons back, I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in the final issues of the original Action Comics and Detective Comics. Even if they revert to the original numbering a year or two from now, the damage will have been done. The originals end in July or August and I don't plan to miss getting them. Ironically, those issues are the ones that will be the collectors items, not Action 2.0 #1. Bet on it.

Five Stages of Grief. Heh. I've not even reached one stage yet. I guess I'm just not as perturbed by this relaunch as other fans are. I suppose I would have a much more intense reaction if it was a complete reboot and not a retaining of several bits of previous continuity.
