That makes the pylons look really tiny though. As it stands, that shelf serves as an area for the main shuttlebay. Although I only see this ship being a fraction longer than the E-E at around 700m or so, it has a much larger interior volume. Considering in the STO timeline the federation is at war with the Klingons, Romulans and Borg I figured that the flagship should be tough, well armored with a lot of support craft and still be able to evacuate an entire colony if it needs to. Thats why I hope to keep the pylons at their current level. It has the 'under-slung grace' of the Enterprise-D, but also a huge powerful main hull that can take a beating.
I'm wondering if I should work up a full schematic with references to major components/features. Hrm... ~Belisarius --------------------------- "All life is struggle, from first breath to last." - Anonymous
Hey Sean, I don´t wanna to sound rude or disrespect you, but the "ears" (top view) makes her to look strange. Makes me remeber Dobby, from Harry Potter. About the side view, I´m with the others: looks to much cool! As a curiosity, early in 90´s, the brazilian magazine “Starlog” published the sketch that supposed to be the Enterprise-F. I don´t know who made the sketch, and if it´s fake or not. Already asked Doug Drexler and John Eaves about it, but they don´t know this sketch or his author. Anyway, it´s a cool design, at least for may taste. Pic attached.
Hmm, I like it as a ship, but for an enterprise it doesnt work. An Enterprise has to maintain the traditional layout IMO, meaning the pylons link onto the secondary hull. That's the way its been for 7 of em, and so if you ask me thats the way it should be for all of em.
Reminds me a bit of the unused holoship that John Eaves designed for Insurrection: http://johneaves.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/halo-1.jpg?w=665&h=478
^^^ I'd lose the small protrusion at the front of the saucer's hull (especially on the dorsal surface). That would clean up her forward lines a lot. ~Belisarius --------------------------- "All life is struggle, from first breath to last." - Anonymous
Hahaha, oh well. I've already gone and "cleaned up" the front of the saucer, here's what i've done: Hopefully this gives everyone a better view of the ship, from the aft view I kinda think it evokes the 1701-D, whereas the front looks like the 1701-E.
Which was the original concept. EDIT: I'll give you hotlinking. Source: http://www.starshipdatalink.net/art/1701-e.html
That's already discussed and answered in the third comment from the top. Seems reading is considered overrated around these parts.
