How did Walternate get back to his side after he met up with Peter? Im trying to remember how they both crossed over. Anyone remember?

They sort of glossed over it. There was a light and poof -- they were back on the other side (but were never shown arriving). While it's extremely difficult for them to get over here, perhaps it's easy for them to go back the other way.

And I guess I forget but what's the deal with the guy with the burns all over his body?

When Walter and his X-Men crossed over at the end of season two, pyro girl killed herself and her dying boyfriend by causing a massive explosion that took out the agent with burns all over.

I liked the ST reference with the Vulcan mind meld.

That was cute. I wonder if Star Trek in the Fringe Mirror Universe is Mirror Universe Star Trek. ;)

No, but I suspect that Star Trek: Phase II was produced there in the late 70s. :)

Wow, a world without TJ Hooker? I can't believe it.

Although maybe Hooker was made with a different actor (Lee Majors maybe?) similarly to how the Mirror Universe Indiana Jones is played by Tom Selleck.

After watching this episode, I am more convinced than ever that Walternate himself is actually responsible for the quarantined areas and the idea that the alternate universe is decaying is a hoax or brought on by Walternate himself.

I don't have any on screen evidence of this, but just a suspicion.

As part of his attempt to get to our universe? Because Walter hasn’t been taking trips to the AU in a long time--and the opera house wasn’t affected by our group’s going there. It wasn’t ambered until Walternate found out.

That’s why I’m not sure that the doomsday machine really is one. And Walternate, who seems to try to cover all bases, doesn’t seem to know about the Observers at all--they never approached him as they did Walter.

It is a world where The West Wing lasted for at least 11 seasons, so it's not all bad.

Where Stargate SG-1 is in its 13th season, Atlantis in its 6th.

Which means no Stargate Universe yah!

It was probably a non-liberal version of the West Wing... Who knows, maybe Ronald Reagan PLAYED the conservative President on the show... ;)

It's tough to rate a network show against a cable show so I usually say that Fringe is the best show on network television.

I'd agree with that sentiment. Easily. Though, there aren't many shows even on Cable/Premium stations that are hitting on all cylinders like Fringe right now. It's too bad more people aren't watching it.

People who aren't watching this show have no business complaining about the lack of quality sci-fi or even quality drama. It's available, people are just watching mindless drivel that occupies 95% of the airwaves out there.

How does the Secretary know Olivia is supposed to have the ability to cross over? William Bell knew, but the second season finale makes no sense if the Secretary knew all about Bell. If he does know so much, why doesn't he know that she can't control it? If he doesn't know she can't control it, why doesn't he wonder why she didn't escape? And why doesn't he conclude from her failure to escape that she can't cross over?

As for the really smart guy who therefore must be a ruthless murderer, why ever did he not use his predicting power to find a neater solution, such as a ludicrous combination of events that resulted in a false record that he was regressed satisfactorily? Oh, I forgot, really smart people are all evil. Even given his inevitable evilness, however, why ever would he leave a pen at the scene of each crime? And wouldn't people on the scene decide it was a Fringe Division case, then call them in?

Is there any point at all to this storyline with brainwashed Olivia, except to prolong the agony of waiting for her to come back? Like that Jacksonville episode, when the writers want her back, her cortexifan powers will suddenly work.

Below average. Even on Hulu this show may not be a good idea.

So do you actually like anything ? I read several different weekly episode threads and in each one you post in all you do is bitch about how much everything sucks.

^ You should've seen the lengthy posts he wrote in every single Battlestar Galactica episode thread... for a show he claimed wasn't worth his time. He spent more time on the show than even the biggest fans.

Who says I didn't, don't let the cadet tag fool you

Rubicon has been superb. No Ordinary Family has been charming and amusing. The Whole Truth is very interesting, with an innovative format that allows (demands?) more realism about the justice system than the black and white cartoons so many prosecutor or defender shows are. Sanctuary has a deft touch with the flaky "science" as well as more unbridled (aka shameless) imagination combined with characters who are good company in your living room.

One fundamental esthetic principle is that if you're going to be silly, you can't be solemn, and vice versa. Lots of the more juvenile scifi shows don't get that.

Statements about how much time I spent on BSG are false. I was right the whole time of course, which is why those posts are so unforgiveable.

Or Lost, for that matter.

^^^:guffaw: I should have realized anyone who could see quality in BSG was hallucinating.

Everyone back on topic, please. :mallory:
