To save myself some time...
I liked the way they used the stones this week. Seeing Camile having to endure time in a disabled body was both attention grabbing and gut-wrenching.
Agreed. They handled this storyline quite well, which was a welcome change from the way the stones were used in season 1.0.
The shots of the Destiny outside the galaxy were nice.
Agreed.
I wasn't expecting the threesome to find their way back so soon. It was too soon in fact. I was hoping they'd milk this storyline a little more. At one point, I even thought they might be imposters. How did they get back anyway? Weren't they out of range?
It was certainly anti-climactic. Unless there's something else going on with these characters (the episode doesn't seem to suggest it) this made for a major disappointment. And I see that Chloe/Scott is still a thing, despite the actors having less chemistry with each other than two pieces of cardboard.
Ascension was mentioned again. I've thought for a while now that that's what Rush is after.
I assume that the scientist in the chair (Franklin?) ascended at the end of the episode. Which ties into Rush's obsession. Speaking of Rush, he's finally becoming an actual character instead of the brilliant asshole. It sure took them long enough.
It would have been a real hoot if Rush had had sex with Little Miss Brilliant (gotta look up her name). He'd actually be sleeping with Camile's body.
I for one am glad at least one character acknowledged the moral complexity of using someone else's body to have sex with when using the stones (and from Rush no less!).
As others have complained, the pop-music montages are getting heavily overused at this point, and the one in this episode was no exception.
They finally answer how everyone has managed basic grooming (they all have electric razors...which I assume will never see their batteries empty or their blades go dull, but, whatever).
I'm not sure I believe that one of the principal scientists would have the time and materials to make and use a still. It feels like another thing lifted from Galactica that doesn't quite fit on this show.
Complaints aside, it was a surprisingly watchable episode. Outside of the Greer flashbacks, it looks like the team being separated from the Destiny is the real dud of season 1.5.
7/10.
