^ You're probably right. I wasn't a fan of the 1st two series, so I'm kind of catching up on some of these things.

So ascension is basically like becoming an Organian or something? You turn into an energy being?

I probably missed a few things:

Franklin was knocked out and paralyzed?
How do the stones actually work? The aliens have someone on stone duty all the time hoping to jack someone's body?
Did the aliens let the lost trio return to the ship in order to confirm their position?

Oh well.

Franklin got mind screwed by sitting in the chair in a previous episode. He's been in a catatonic state since, well until this episode anyway.

The montages wouldn't be so bad if they didn't feel the need to have one in every other episode. Once or twice a season, fine. But using it as a crutch like this is just lame.
For me, the one for this episode was the first one that felt a bit forced.

They weren't out of range, it's just that stargates don't work outside of normal space (either because they're moving too fast or because they're outside of normal space as well as moving too fast). Eli said they were only there for one night (I think he said or implied that the remote woke him up, so it wasn't even a full night), so the ship didn't have the chance to get too far. Apparently, the range of a Destiny gate is more than a few hours' FTL flight.
Makes sense.

On the montages, well I could really do without them. But I do kind of like seeing little snippets of what the crew is up to.

Using them more sparingly would help I think.

Ahh, that was him? Totally forgot.

Oh yeah, I totally forgot that this was the controversial episode... I suppose there was a little bit of an over reaction, although it's almost like no one is worried about the ethics of using someone's body to bang a stranger nowadays. Jeez.

Meh, it was alright. I didn't buy those three coming back so easily with not much in the way of explanation, and the whole thing with James being taken over by the aliens was a little forced. And what exactly did Little Miss Perfect do to help them besides give James a reason to get the aliens to take over her body and give Camile a chance to go home?
Worst one of the second half for me.

I know from a dramatic point of veiw having the three musketeers just happen to get back when they did, it was kind of weak. But that didn't bother me too much because sometimes things just simply work. Call it luck, call it fate, whatever. As long as it doesn't start happening all the time it doesn't bother me.

As for the montages... It'd be nice if they actually wrote some music for the show for that purpose. When backed by a well written piece of music, they can work really well. When using a popular culture song that doesn't even really fit... not so much...

One question I have though... Why is everyone so obsessed with the female Lt... um... James I think it was. So what if she has above average breasts! Is that really all anyone here has to say about her?

She was a strong character in the beginning, although has kind of lost her nerve. I think the "I don't want to disappoint my CO" is more likely "I can't handle this, it's all crazy, and I'm going to hide it all behind not wanting to disappoint my CO"

I liked it. It would have been easy to screw up the paralyzed physicist plot, but they did a good job with it, it was neither sappy nor preachy, and the actress was quite engaging. The sub-plots with Camille and CJ were also well done.

Personally, I like the music they're choosing, so the montages don't bother me.

The oft-mentioned easy return of Chloe, Eli, and Scott was annoying, especially after the dramatic ending to last week - kind of wish they could have made this a longer ep, with a sub-plot covering the three of them stuck on the planet for the first half hour or so. Oh well.

One thing I got a kick out of for some strange reason was the repair robot. Reminded me of something you'd expect to see on 1950's era scifi cover art. Betcha Eli gives it a name before long.

Oh, also: Uncle Brodie's makin' some shine! I foresee many bonding experiences around that still.

You're assuming Eli and Co. came back unscathed? And when they just happened to send a Kino back to scout it out (against Eli's wishes), the aliens were there waiting in ambush?

<shrugs>

- It would have been a real hoot if Rush had had sex with Little Miss Brilliant (gotta look up her name). He'd actually be sleeping with Camile's body. It would have been an even bigger hoot if Camile swapped back into her own body in mid coitus with Rush. Don't care if it's been done before. :D

I would have liked to have seen Camille get worked up about Dr. Perry using her body in a relationship other than her own sexual preference...after doing the exact same thing so someone else.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. I liked the guest character and thought her part in the story made good strides in humanizing Rush.

- liked the musical interlude and the 3 weeks passed transition. I appreciated seeing the crew in their day to day life, and gotta love the alcohol still!

- easy way out of the whole stranded thing, but at least it made sense.

- didn't expect that ending. i'm finding myself enjoying the serialized nature of this stargate series.

- the alien boarding thing near the end made this episode feel a little oversized in terms of storyline, especially with wray's subplot thrown in there as well. I felt the premise of the episode could've made a good two parter or season closer. nontheless i had a good time.

8/10

I voted average.

What always strikes me as odd is how humans have advanced technology to create starships etc from the Stargate but no advances to cure cancer or other injuries.

Seriously over a decade of advanced tech and still no cure for cancer or regrowing organs and limbs cheaply/quickly.

Why, the aliens they have run across have mostly used humans a cheap slaves. They just let a wild population live near the gates available to be culled as food, workers or soldiers. Then when humans were advanced there was always some local Prime Directive in the way. Besides there was one medical super tech, Jackson has been in it. Was there a side effect or are humans unable to reverse engineer it?

If you are referring to the sarcophagus there was at least one side effect. Prolonged use turns the user into an ego-maniacal sociopath bent on universal domination.

Another fucking montage? Are you kidding me? Oooh, and the song goes 'only if you run', and the camera pans over to people getting their cardio on... how clever

The crap with the asian chick and her girlfriend, and her nurse... that was pretty unwatchable. Possibly the worst scenes in Stargate history. Sorry, I don't care that her shopping trip went long, despite it causing so much anguish... for some reason.

The other half of the swappy stone was more interesting I guess. Mostly because Robert Carlyle is a much better actor than anyone else on this show. Little miss brainy is also probably a million times more interesting than the asian chick who is rapidly reaching Teyla levels of uselessness.

And once again nobody seemed too concerned about using other people's bodies for... whatever! It's gotten to the point where I might just start praising this insanity as the show just having consistent internal logic and continuity . Thought I guess Girl Hawking had a good point, she's not going to have any other chances for some good sex anytime soon.

The Lost 3 getting back just like that is pretty disappointing. I can see why some are speculating that there's more of a connection with the aliens there, but I'm not convinced. It just seems like they wasted the last couple of episodes by resolving it so abruptly and offscreen. The logic that they were still in gate range seems a little suspect to me, but I'll let that aspect of it slide. But it's still a horribly unsatisfying way to wrap up that plot.

The robot was pretty cool. I'll give 'em that.

Someone was wondering why we're still talking about Lt. Juggs's... jugs? It's probably because they're hilariously disproportionate, and she's always wearing a tight shirt and nipping out. It's a miracle she can walk without tipping over.

The sabotage fixing the FTL efficiency thing doesn't make much sense either. Presumably the computer could've figured out that warp core #15 was going to make them fall short. You'd think it would make the call itself to just shut it down. I mean, if blowing it up fixes it, then obviously it's not too picky. Or did I miss something? The sabotage basically fixed it right? Or was there something else that brought them out of warp? It was ridiculously late at night when I watched this episode.

I gave it a 2/10, this episode really squandered the momentum they've built up the past couple of weeks.

You still... like... actually watch the show? We are probably going to have to agree to disagree, and I mean no disrespect but that entire post seemed to be:
"I hate this, I hate that, I really hate that, the robots ok, now back to hate."

It just seems like you'd be a happier person to go watch something you enjoy.

Anyway, they weren't going to make it before the sabotage occurred, and the sabotage didn't fix the problem it actually made it worse by disabling the FTL. From what I could tell the FTL drives work kind of like a string of christmas lights. (or atleast the old ones) You break one bulb, the whole string won't light up. But, if you cut that socket out entirely, and reconnect the severed wire, the string will light up again.

I could be wrong though.

I strikes me as very odd that they never ever acquired one of these sarcophagi. They could have saved hundreds of lives on dozens of occasions.
