This teaser is outstanding. I'm really diggin' the retro look.

(I didn't think this should go in the Fanfilm forum, as it is licensed.)

Okay, but where can we find this?

This is the first I've heard of it, and after the fiasco with SyFy's Flash Gordon, I'd like to see this new version of Buck.

I wonder why they went with "L. Buck Rogers" instead of Anthony/Tony. Looks cool though but I've seen some cool teasers before that didn't hold up for the final project but hopefully something good comes out of it.

Here's another recent publicity picture:

So, that's Bobby Quinn Rice as Buck Rogers. (Yes, he plays "Peter Kirk" in our Star Trek Phase II series.) That's Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers from the old 1979-1980 Buck Rogers TV series) as the dad of our Buck. It's hard to see Erin Gray (Wilma Deering in that same old Buck Rogers series) in the back seat of that Model "T" Ford, but she play's our Buck's mom. Samantha Gray (Erin's daughter) play's Buck's love interest.

That is a Model "T" Ford and Buck is wearing a WWI uniform because, well, Buck was a WWI pilot who gets "frozen" in 1918 and wakes up 500 years later. Our series stars back in 1918 and since we're drawing on the old 1930's Buck Rogers comics for our Art Design, everything will look like the 25th century as people thought it would look back in the '30s. (Well, we're going to try and pull it off at any rate. Overall, I'm happy with our results.)

Feedback and questions are always welcome.

P.S. Yes, we changed Buck's real name from "Anthony" to "Lucas"--for a variety of Producer-ish-type reasons.

Considering how simple that trailer is, I'm amazed how intriguing it seems just on the basis of the music and the spacecraft design. Nice job! :bolian:

Wow. That trailer and the background info really made my day, especially with all of the inane reboots that have been harshing my mellow lately. I'll check out that website when I get back later today. :bolian:

It's good to see webseries in general getting a higher profile. And this one looks very, very intriguing. Great work on the trailer. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Is there some kind of mailing list to remind fans when this series gets closer to premiere?

Very cool trailer.

On a related note: Anyone reading the current series of buck rogers comic books from Dynamite entertainment? Very good stuff, IMO. They're managing to combine a modern take on the story with some very nice nods to versions of the BR story that have come before (retro spacesuits in an early issue, a cameo appearance by TV's Dr. Theopololis in the current issue..)

I like this trailer, and Looking forward to seeing the webseries either online or DVD.

I love Gil as Buck's Dad,and the fact that James has done the impossible again.

I've allways been a fan of James's work with New Voyages, and that fact that he uses the actual actors from the various Star Trek series to appear in his projects is a testimate to his dedication to telling new stories in Gene's universe.

That's my take on this topic

Signed

Buck Rogers

I love the idea that Gil Gerard and Erin Gray are in this; I was never a fan of that particular incarnation of Buck Rogers, but I find this very respectful and indicative of the positive philosophy of the producers.

Looks like you are doing some great work. Very happy to see Gil and Erin involved and so very pleased that you are going back to WWI rather than doing a modern re-telling.

How long will each webisode be? How about posting a publicity still with Gil and Erin and Bobby?

My best to everyone involved, seems like you're doing a great job so far

We're not exactly sure how long each episode will be, nor how many there will be. I think we are leaning towards about ten minutes per episode. This could fit in nicely with YouTube's delivery limitations, although we haven't actually decided yet that this will be available on YouTube. It's also much like the old movie serials that would be shown at the theater before the feature--along with newsreels. We think Buck would lend itself well to this old serial format. Lastly, we would probably make enough of these episodes that they could be strung together to fit on a DVD. So the episodes would have to be strong enough to stand on their own, yet hang together well enough to make a complete narrative.

We'll try to get more publicity stuff out the door. We juggle the Buck stuff with our Phase II stuff--as well as our day jobs, of course.

A DVD option would be nice, if they are good I would like to be able to have a personal copy. I think 10 minutes sounds good as well, I find webisodes frustrating sometimes because they feel like they are over before they get started.

I'm not sure how you will be presenting this when they are released, such as advertising and what not, but an option to "play all" would be welcome as well. To be able to watch seamlessly without having to click on the next episode would be appreciated. When complete it would be nice to be able to watch them as one would a full episode or movie on Hulu.

That's so very.. Thunderbirds.

You know, that's interesting. As I've been watching the design and development of this little clip, I've had this niggling little thing in my mind that Buck's ship looks sort of fat and lumbering--not super-sleek and fast. But, now that you mention it, it does bear some resemblance to Thunderbird 2--which was always my favorite. So I think I like the clip more now than I did before thanks to your Thunderbird observation.

"Buck Rogers is GO!"
