I don't know how I feel about Torchwood

I only actually saw 1 season of Torchwood. CoE. I was going to watch the other one but a friend of mine who is a big Who fan watched it and he saw Captain Jack have sex with an another man.
The only thing we actually see is a bit of snogging and naked upper bodies. They still both have their pants on.

its alot more than some other shows have shown, however its possible I have a limited sample range for comparison.

Run for the hill the gays are coming!

Seriously the only time I had a problem with homosexuality in TW was when they forced it for shock value. When handled right Jack/Jack Jack/Ianto I had no issue with it.

Agreed. I've never particularly had a problem with it at all, but when it seemed forced then it just came across as cheap, where as Jack/Jack was one of the best played on screen kisses in a long time. Jack and Ianto was a good relationship too.

I found Jack/Ianto a bit curious to begin with, but that was less about sexuality than the situation (given the whole Lisa/Cyberwoman thing)

Archer was such a cipher

All that buzz about Scott Bakula. I only saw Quantum Leap a couple of times, but I had been under the impression he was considered a good actor. It can't just be the writing that was to blame for Archer.

Mayweather was the worst one though, potentially the best character of the lot. A callow youth who was actually more experienced than any of the command staff when it came to being "Out there" completely wasted.
Amen to that. I don't know if the actor was up to much more than he was given, but how would we know? They almost never took advantage of the backstory they'd created for him. Not that the Enterprise novels have done him justice, either.

Yeah, I don't want my mind scarred. The damage from Queer as Folk just got repaired.

I'm straight, I don't find the prospect of shagging or snogging a guy appealing, and I wouldn't go out of my way to see guys snogging on TV, but it's hardly going to scar my mind if I do. For that matter, in one first season Torchwood episode, I was yelling at the TV for Jack to just kiss the guy already, because it was such a powerful emotional scene.

QAF (UK; haven't seen the US version) was more explicit than I expected. And a hell of a lot more explicit than Torchwood at its most explicit. My wife and I were surprised occasionally, but overall we both enjoyed the show. Loads of Doctor Who references and connections and Coronation Street connections, too. What's not to like?

I just finished "Children of Earth," and man was that INTENSE! That was some of the best TV I've ever seen.
:) Thought you'd like it. You can see why we're still going on about it months after broadcast.

But where the hell do we go from here? Is there a Season 4?
As others have said, there are plans afoot. Depends on what happens to jack after the last 2 Who specials, I suppose.

Come to think of it, I don't know if he's in the specials, haven't seen him in the trailers. Maybe he doesn't turn up until Who s5. Anyone else know?

I'm not even all the way through DW Season 1...I need to get caught up! I've only seen random episodes from Season 2 and 3.

Well, you have plenty of time, you only have 57 episodes that have currently aired to watch, and there'll be 3 more by the end of the year... But then it won't be till some time next year when Series 5 airs. So there's plenty of time to get caught up.

Always loved Captain Jack. Would love to see him on Trek, he'd have Kirk's record of womanizing broken....if he does not go after Kirk first.
Maybe there's fanfiction for that. ;)

Well, in mine, Jack's in Starfleet, and had a funny scene, just for silliness.

Jack: Hey, Jim, what's wrong?
Kirk: It's Spock.
Jack: Oh?
Kirk: Ponfar's kicking in.
Jack: ~Smirks~ Hmm, 7 is my lucky number. ;)

a century later....

On the 1701-D:

If Troi's mom thought Picard had naughty thoughts.....oh, wait till she reads Jack's mind.

Troi enters her mother's quarters, and prompley walks out.

~Troi's Mom, with a blanket around herself, or some sort of lingerie, walks to Denna.~
Denna: Oh, mother, I'm so sorry! I did not know you had company. :alienblush:
~Jack walks out, towel around his hips~
Jack: Hey, Deanna!
Troi: I'm so sorry for barging in.
Jack: ~Smirks~ Ehhh, I don't mind, there's room for one more back in there, Deanna. ;)

Later....

Troi's Mom: So, Jack, what now?
Jack: Didn't Data say he was fully functional?

I don't have a problem with gay people. I just don't want to see it.

I never actually saw the show. I was just a little innocent kid, maybe not innocent but I was really young. I was watching one of those stupid 100 Greatest/worst/whatever Channel 4 shows when the showed a clip of QAF. Basically two guys in bed one moaning and panting, kissing or licking. I was horrified. That shit was just straight up nasty.

It can be kind of unnerving. I can't say I enjoy watching it, but I do hope it gets more and more exposure so that eventually people aren't bothered by it.

Like how my grandpa [allegedly] flipped out the first time he saw a tampon commercial!

I was raised in a family where when ever a woman and a man kiss. I either change the channel or look the other way. I've been doing it for so long that people wonder why I stare at walls in the cinema.

that seems a bit backwards, what if it was a same sex kiss, was there a rule for that?

There would be hell to pay for that. So I just do my self a favour and don't bother watching shows like that. Which gets on my nerve when some shows go crazy with lesbians.

I personally don't mind ignoring kisses. It gives you a complelty different perspective on tv shows and films. I get to appriecate the story more. For example Bollywood films are very effective at communicating love stories to their audience but unlike Hollywood they almost never show any sex or kissing scenes. Espeically films by Sharuk Khan.
