Who (in character, actor) would you like being the 2nd film's villain?

Cingular

Lieutenant Junior Grade
Red Shirt
Irrespective whether you loved or greatly disliked this year's Trek cinema film, who (as in the male or female actor and/or character - it doesn't have to be from the TOS, Next Gen, DS9 and/or Voyager shows, but it can be if you want it to) would you most like seeing play the villain/s in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Star Trek cinema movies and please say why.

This should have been posted in the STXI forum.

I do not want any character from any past series or movie in the next Star Trek movies. It is time to Boldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before... a new villain or character.

I agree. Instead of rehashing/revisiting stories and people we already know, the new movies are a chance to explore new and different plots and places. This chance should be taken advantage of. That being said, I wouldn't mind the occasional nod to something/someone from TOS if it fits the story.

This was part of my enjoyment of the movie... the nods which paid homage to the original series (and later series as well). I am still finding 'Easter eggs' as I re-watch it.

My vote would go for Redjac, done in CGI and using various controlled agents portrayed by relatively unknown actors, in a MUCH darker version of "A Wolf In The Fold".

Agreed, 100%. XI sold itself on being something fresh and new, and it was. If they want the twelfth movie to be as good, it'll have to stand on its own two legs.

If they HAVE to use a pre-existing character, have it be Kor.

Hell, they should have used Kor in TUC instead of making Chang.

QFT! :bolian:

It doesnt even have to be a villain per se, like in ST4, it was a mission (finding whales).....it could be something like that.

BUT i want it to be ORIGINAL, fresh, new, brand spankin!

Yet using Kirk and Spock is somehow okay?

I kind of like the idea of a mission more than a specific villain, but I'm not sure the average audience member would go for that.

Heh, but without Piglet's voice!

There WAS a villain in ST:IV - the Probe. But it is correct to say that the mission was FAR more important than the villain, which seemed blameless to a certain extent for what it was doing out of ignorance.

That's why I'm all for a DARK remake of "The Wolf in the Fold". Sure, Redjac is a villain. But the movie wouldn't be about the villain so much as it would be a mystery - the mission, in this case, would be Whodunnit. An opportunity for lots of cast characterization combined with the budget to make an episode of CSI: Starfleet from Hell. :D

Maybe Eeyore's instead. ;)

(The actor who voiced Eeyore also voiced Megatron.)

Re: Who (in character, actor) would you like being the 2nd film's villa

Considering that they want to "reintroduce the basics of Trek," then I would say the villains of Trek XII would be Klingons. After all, Klingons are the essential villains of TOS, and indeed when most non-fans think of Trek villains in general, they think of Klingons. Add to that, Trek XI already got a head start re-designing the Klingons for a scene that was deleted, and CG meshes for Klingon ships were made for the Kobayashi Maru scene. This should cut the cost somewhat.

So yeah, the villains of Trek XII are likely to be Klingons.

Re: Who (in character, actor) would you like being the 2nd film's villa

Why not have an antagonist who is not a villain in the usual sense of the word - someone with a legitimate stance which might be different from our heroes', but is not downright evil or crazy, and someone the audience might actually be tempted to agree with on occasions?

Also, why not have an antagonist or one of the antagonists be someone from the Federation?

Far too complex for Generic Summer Action Flick that Trek XII is sure to be. Stick with Klingons as villains, crazy ass starship battles with pretty splosions, a lead Klingon who spews some semi-philosophical sounding dialogue to make it sound like he's about something, and a Nokia ad. #1 at the weekend box office.

Chris Pine as James T. Kirk from the mirror universe. I just want to hear him scream, "I AM CAPTAIN KIRRRRK!"

So how did X-Men movies do so well in the "Generic Summer Action Flicks" field, what with Magneto not being your typical eeeevil psycho villain type and all?

Or maybe the target audience for the X-Men franchise is smarter and deeper than the target audience for the Star Trek franchise? :shifty:

I don't know about that. Keep in mind that TVH was the second highest grossing Trek film behind TMP until STAR TREK came out last summer.
