Kirk is NEARSIGHTED?

<snip>

LOL! You all have the eyes of eagles compared to me. I'm so nearsighted I can't tell what color someone's eyes are 3' away from me with my glasses off.
.

omg! i cant tell if a person even HAS eyes from 3 feet away. I think my vision is like 20/200. Thank goodness science figured out a way to make the lenses of glasses so thin. Otherwise, i'd be truly be fodder for the wolves....i'd be in coke bottle glasses!

I used to have something like 20/10 or 20/15, but that went south when I hit my late 30s. Now my distance vision is still decent but I can't read anything without glasses any more unless it's in huge letters.

I ran across an interview with Chris Pine containing one question which sorta fits here:

Why does your character [in Princess Diaries 2] wear glasses instead of contact lenses in the movie?

CHRIS PINE: I know, everybody has been asking that. I tried but it was so dry that winter that my eyes got really red and that doesn't look too sexy on camera. I had to take them out and just pop eye drops all the time and kind of learn how to act without seeing.

I'm near-sighted. I can see you but it's a little blurry. I'm pretty bad. In 3rd grade I had to get glasses and I cried for days because I thought I was going to be a dork. But glasses make people very, very cool (laughing).

Twenty-five years ago my vision was 20/450 - it ain't improved since then.

If anything happened to my glasses - I couldn't drive, walk around without running into things etc.

You're right about thin lenses - thank goodness for them so we don't have to wear coke bottles.
