that wasn't aimed at anyone specific! i didn't name names! hell, i hate intolerant homophobic jerks whether they're christian, islamic or jewish! i'm intolerant of intolerance in all its forms!
The doubleoh spaketh the truth. There's a reason why I haven't been religious in a looong time. That being said I'd say there's a difference between religion and faith. I can have faith without being religious, and I feel a lot of religions is really just about the religions and not about the faith anymore. As it stands, really, apart from a flailing desire to not break my parents' hearts and the examples of acceptance set forth by people like J. Allen and Mark de vries, I really don't see what religion has to offer me in my life other than hypocrisy, shameful discriminatory attitudes, misbegotten and retellings of ancient history and sheer stupidity.
Way to score one for the team, Brent!
So, you're either a hypocrite, or you don't know the meaning of the word "unconditional."and a love that is unconditional.
Unless you're being an adulterer. God frowns on that.In my own faith, God does accept gay people, and loves them for who they are. God places emphasis on what is in the heart, not on what is between one's legs.

Just a clarification: the church in question in this exorcism was not a Catholic Church. There are many faiths that perform exorcisms.Maybe he felt (rightly so in my opinion) that his lifestyle was incompatible with Catholicism. Who knows?
It is. I don't know if possession can lead to homosexual behavior. I do think it's be possible for a demon to lead someone down many different paths away from God. So it wouldn't be shocking.

I have to disagree with that I think possession can also just lead to less of a barrier to giving in to temptation. It is. I don't know if possession can lead to homosexual behavior. I would imagine yes, but simply because possession would make one do what one naturally would not want to do. So if you were gay, it would make sense that you would engage in heterosexual behavior, and vice versa. I mean, if we're discussing such a hypothetical.

What i still can't understand is how my gay marriage will adversely affect someone's straight marriage. All i'm asking is to be treated the same. To have the same rights and privileges as everyone else. Is that so bad to ask?

See? This is what I find so baffling about the dreaded "gay agenda" certain people are always fear-mongering about*. Shameless was just kind enough to outline the agenda for us: to be treated equally.
Ooooooh. Scary shit. I feel threatened already
*I should note that I'm sort of raging at nobody in particular here. I don't think anyone in this thread has been making any such claims. Although there's a bunch of them in links related to this thread.

I dated a girl once who believed that most of life's "illnesses" came from Demonic posessions, and required spiritual healing. Stupid frickin' Petacostals....
So this does not disturb nor surprise me at this point. Not after people tried to "exorcise" autism from a child, and killed him doing so.
When it comes down to it, we just have to ignore these idiots and hope they go away. Too bad they aren't as dumb as the shakers, who died out much faster than anyone could have hoped for (but just as fast as everyone expected).
Right now, all i want is to get married. Given enough time, it will become socially accepted.

Do you think they are more interested in societal acceptance of their "marriage" as well? I think this is actually the crux of the matter. Maybe it's just the legal status he mentioned but i don't think so.

Ahh, so your secret plan is to sit back and watch as people naturally become better educated and more tolerant as they are exposed to something they should never have been protected from in the first place.
Insidious!
