Star Trek Rotten Tomatoes Rating

You know I love RT and I really want to say that this massively high rating means something but Insurrection is currently rated above Generations and TMP as the 6th best Trek Movie at 55%:

Uh...No.

Oh and TVH is rated above TUC and TSS.

For older movies, where there aren't as many reviews available online rottentomatoes can't be taken as seriously as with more recent ones.

Been spreading the word to neighbors in a low-key way. At 7-11 to purchase my celebratory box of Captain Crunch, the chatty cashier asked how I was and I basically said depends on how much money a certain movie makes.

Guy in line said "Star Trek?" and I said "Yeah" to which he responded "Looks good, I'm going to go see it".

So maybe the average person on the street will be drawn to this heavily praised movie... We'll see...

I can only imagine the cashier's face at your response to "How are you doing?".

:D

I'm shameless when it comes to wanting this movie to go well.

It just sounded funny to say your day depends on the box office returns of a movie. You should have said "I'm doing great, just got back from that new Star Trek movie, what a blast, you should check it out." or something.

I'm pretty much an on-the-cuff kind of guy. Good thing maritally things are going well and I've no hemorrhoids...

Exactly right. Take the RT score for any film prior to 95-96 with a grain of salt, as the score reflects the opinions of online sites and not the general film critic opinions from when the film was released. Further, many of them were written recently, based on opinions colored by years of analysis and discussion of a film and not based on initial impressions.

The newest batch are awesome. I particularly like the first one:

A new Star Trek film so full of life, wit, smarts, thrills and sheer gratifying entertainment that it launches the mind on a stream of merry somersaults.

..Elicits laughs, adventure, and refreshing, positive energy in a way series creator Gene Roddenberry intended.

The first Star Trek movie that feels fully realized. It's smart enough to be accessible to everyone, while retaining enough respect for the franchise's legacy to please diehard fans.

Abrams' Star Trek strikes a beautiful balance, with enough allusions to Trek mythology to please longtime fans and enough 21st century verve to wow even those viewers who know nothing of Star Trek.

Faced with the task of acclimating new audiences to this venerably corny space opera, J.J. Abrams simultaneously executes a franchise reboot and nostalgia play.

With Star Trek Abrams honors the show's legacy without fossilizing its best qualities. Instead, he's whisked it off to a planet where numbing nostalgia can't kill it, and where the future is still something to look forward to.

96%

213/204/9

Just a guess here but I don't think any Star Trek movie will ever beat this score, this is a super high score for RT.

Wow, Its added 10 more Fresh 0 more Rotten and its still at 97%, I wonder how many more Fresh are needed to bump it to 97%?

Your post doesn't make any sense. I think you meant 98% at the end.

I often wonder if I am the only person that posts here who proof reads his own posts. I cannot see why you WOULDN'T.

I really cant believe how great its doing on RT! Could this end up being the best reviewed wide release mainstream movie of all time???

195+
9-

195 is 95,59% of 204, so just barely 96%.

If I'm not mistaken, for 97% it would need another 53 (!) "fresh" reviews with no "rotten", it would then be 248+ out of 257 reviews, which is exactly 96,5%.

So, not very likely I'd say. ;)
