I saw it more as a way to get away from him before he died. She was just looking for some excuse to not have to deal with his death.
In the flashback, she did something similar with her natural father. Left him at his bed when she could have easily stayed.
At this point in the series I think she has grown quite a bit from the hostile Kira of first season who was still scarred by the Occupation.
