Well it finally hit the fan, took a lot longer than I expected. These space battles really have a problem with scale.

Well, they surely are at war now. I hope each episode continues to have an open ended ending like this one did.

The next few episodes will, although the show does go back to episodic storytelling eventually. This is a great run of episodes which you're viewing at the moment though, one of the shows high-points.

"Stranded on a planet with a contingent of Jem'Hadar and a dying Vorta, Sisko struggles to protect his crew without compromising his principles. On the station, Kira decides that she's compromised her principles enough, and vows to fight the invaders."

Vorta are slimy. Garak's comments about rules during war were spot on. Kira is living in a daze lets see if the Vedek's death woke her up. I'm flying thru these episodes right now. Each one leaves you wanting more.

I've been sick the past two days as well, so that helps. I haven't left my room for more than 10 minutes at a time.

"Sons and Daughters"

"While Alexander struggles to become a Klingon warrior and fit in on General Martok's ship, Ziyal returns to the station determined to make peace between Dukat and Kira."

A nice parallel story. Good to see Alexander again, I wonder what the future holds for him. Hopefully he doesn't fall out of the story, although I have a feeling that he will.

Trentman has finally just about caught up to where I am in my first time viewing the series. I guess it helped that I stopped watching for about a month while I was moving. I suppose I'll have to stop reading this thread for awhile as he's going to be ahead of me soon (never thought the day would come!), but it'll be nice to come back when I'm caught up to him again.

I agree that the end of season 5 to beginning of season 6 arc is some fantastic television, although I found "Sons and Daughters" and "Behind the Lines" a little underwhelming, mostly because I don't care for the characters of Alexander and Odo very much, so I couldn't really root for them or care about their dilemmas. Especially Odo. I never liked him much in the first place, but I really hate him after "Behind the Lines".

It seemed like the whole time he was basically just condescending to Kira, telling her "I'm better than you 'cause I'm a Changeling and you're not, and you can never understand how great I am, you puny little solid". And he was not being condescending to other lifeforms in a cute way like Q, where you can sense that beneath his apparent superiority complex is some reluctant admiration. He just came across as a "holier-than-thou" pompous dickhead. "Favor the Bold" was a return to awesomeness, though. I'm very excited to see how the that episode's story is resolved in the one after it.

You watched Favor the Bold and managed to prevent yourself from watching Sacrifice of Angels right away? You must have a tremendous strength of will because that was one of the longest weeks of my life when it first aired.

Yeah, I can imagine! I'm putting some time between viewings even though I can watch the episodes any time I want and yes, it is hard to not just dive right into part 2 after "Favor the Bold". I figured waiting would make it more satisfying when I do get to it, and your comments only further convinced me of that. Thanks a lot, even more stoked now.

"Restless in his desk job, Sisko plans to retake the station, while Odo works with Dukat and the Dominion and Kira plots against them."

These are the episodes I really love. It seems like nothing and everything happens at the same time. Nothing is resolved and I'm left wanting more. Great episode.

"In order to stop Jem'Hadar reinforcements from entering the Alpha Quadrant, Sisko leads a fleet against the Dominion; meanwhile, Kira and Rom try to halt the Cardassians from within."

Oh I know the payoff is going to be worth it.

"Sacrifice of Angels"

"The combined Federation-Klingon fleet successfully retakes the station, but Odo remains dangerously connected to another changeling, and Dukat's conflicted loyalties become his undoing."

Well the action was top notch, possibly the best space battle that Trek has ever done. Dukat again proves to be the deepest Trek villain ever. Once the minefield went down I knew that the Prophets were going to step in. I almost feel that this episode was a let down, if this effectively ends the war I will be incredibly disappointed.

"Before they can wed, Worf must undergo a Klingon purification ritual and Dax must gain the approval of Martok's unsympathetic wife."

Ah, Klingon rituals. I felt like Dax and was annoyed by all the rituals. I wanted to see Bashir and O'Brien attack Worf at the end. Were the thuds the sound of the poor Doctor and Chief hitting the floor or was it Worf?

Worf and Dax get married in a Klingon way which is to team up and beat their enemies to a pulp. O'Brien and Bashir don't stand a chance

I never understood why people always cry at weddings until I saw that episode. That's actually the first time I got teary over a wedding television episode, even though weddings have long been a staple of television. I love Dax and Worf that much. Such a romantic, funny, and wonderfully written episode. One of Farrell's finest hours in the series, and definitely one of my favourites in its whole run.

"Resurrection"

"Bareil, the mirror universe duplicate of Kira's dead lover, arrives on the station and begins to fall for Kira, but his motives are not what they seem."

This episode was completely useless. This topic was already explored with Sisko and Jennifer except they didn't need to waste/devote an entire episode to it.

"Statistical Probabilities"

"A group of genetically-enhanced social misfits come to the station and convince Bashir that surrender is the Federation's only hope against the Dominion."

Who can't find peace in numbers and equations? It can be reassuring to be certain of the future. Good message about odds and fate though. Fairly enjoyable episode.
