Things I Hate About Star Trek

I hate on-again, off-again romances... Worf 'n' Troi

Worf and Troi weren't really off again/on again. They started dating, and then the show ended and he got transferred to DS9.

Well, but you can't get more "off" than that, right?

I know what you mean, and you're probably right, but the way they just pretended, once it was no longer convenient, that that relationship never happened just irks me no end. I mean, please. Trek PTB: We can remember from one season to the next who was having a romance with who, OK?

Harpo had some really good ones. ::waits to see if this is too subtle for the BBS crowd but is pretty sure it is not::

Once I bought a book entitled The Collected Oral Wisdom of Harpo Marx. Boy was I disappointed.

I hope it wasn't the audio version.

(And the BBSers do not disappoint me!)

Erm, *coughs* would this be a bad time to admit that I have not read or watched much Marx Brothers *scuffles feet*

Heh, you're overestimating me!
Now why do I think that this isn't true? :)

Aw, shucks. :p

I can't cook for crap. Massages however... :shifty:
And I'm supposed to take that at face value? I'm so tensed up, I could use a massage. When can you be here?
Well, how long's a transcontinental redeye?

Which reminds me: another thing I hate about Trek is that we don't yet have their transporters. :klingon:

Heck, even the Stargate ring platforms would do!

You poor poor thing. (Although actually I like Laurel and Hardy even better.) You simply must, that's all. I don't know if you're too English ;) or too young or just need to get up to speed on classic comedy.

And here's the thing about Harpo:
He never talked on stage or on screen - well, not after about 1920 or so.

^ If someone wants to rack his or her brain concerning what was special about Harpo, who am I to spoil the fun?

A little of columns A, B, C and D, Not to mention E.

Have you guys ever heard of Blackadder by any chance?

A masterwork of awesomeness, except the first series, which wasn't quite so good. It was only in series 2 that they figured out the successful formula for Blackadder, bascially by turning the sniveling down from 11.

Yeah, Prince Edmund just was not very funny and lacked the wonderful cynicism of his descendants.

(Now, if you'll please excuse me, I have some Marx Brothers catching up to do.;))

Duck Soup's pretty good. Damned if I can remember the plot, but it's good. Ah--it's the one where Groucho becomes dictator of Freedonia.

YES ,YES, YES
Have not seen it years though

QFT. Geez.

Hey, at least you guys got a movie, where's ours?

I know!!! Come ON...it doesn't have to be DS9, even, to get some Cardassian representation! All we get is some poor, assimilated victim in First Contact... :(

And a brief mention from the stretched face guy (Ru'fo) in Insurrection:rolleyes:.
Lets turn the Never ending sacrifice into a movie (the upcoming trek novel, not the Cardassian classic, I'm not sure many Terrans would get Cardassian enigma tales;))

I'm sorry but we must deny your appeal for leniency on the basis of youth. Because even I am "too young" for the Marx Brothers.

Yes! Love it! Haven't seen it in ages, though.

honk honk

:guffaw::lol::rommie:

(Because one smiley is, once again, not enough.)

What a memory for dialog you have, Myasishchev. That was one of his best lines, wasn't it?

Yes. And also Night at the Opera.

Despite this conversation, I can't honestly say that one of the things I hate about Star Trek is a lack of slapstick humor.

What about the time the Ferengi got the 20th century humans to mimic the slapping of the foreheads?

And in terms of the Marx Brothers I plead a case of being British and throw myself on the court's mercy. I thank you.

The Neverending Sacrifice (well, the original novel) is a repetitive epic. ;)

However, I do think the enigma tales, by Shoggoth, would be more likely to go over well. We would just have to tell people it's Columbo--but a lot more serious.

Indeed, although my personal favorite is Mediations on a Crimson Moon. For obvious reasons of course;)
