Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

Verily.

I just hope the movie-going public will not feel the stigma and go see it. It'll have to have good word of mouth to succeed, not just the fan base attendance.

Shakes head.

Unbelievably good.

I've normally been pretty contented that ST was for a small group of us (with a few exceptions) but I really want the general public to see this trailer and then the movie.

I'm still blown away. Any reservations I've harbored are long gone. I'm having an absolute geek-gasm over here.

This IS the Trek we've been waiting for. Unbelievable.

Nothing about the movie resembles "Starship Troopers." :guffaw:

Agreed. Starship Troopers sucked.

I saw it on DVD and enjoyed it quite a bit, actually. It's just that nothing about this movie looks at all like that one.

At about 46 seconds in, BTW, it looks like Old Spock crashes his little timeship smack into the hull of the Narada. May be a trick of editing, otherwise it's ratehr a remarkable spoiler.

Oh, and I love Young Spock embracing Uhura. He certainly looks...confused.

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

That one blew the first trailer out of the water.

I noticed that. Perhaps its on "auto pilot"? Or Spock goes out with a bang, though it strikes me as a rather futile attempt to cripple that huge "engine of destruction".

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

Something tells me we'll be sick of those little green misile things the Narada uses by the end.

I work in video and enjoy analysing trailers. The only thing that bugs me is the way the title shows up. I would have had it appear a second or two before, to coincide with the music better.

But apart from that, I'm still drooling

He was pulling back his hood.

Ah ok that makes more sense. Phew!

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

One thing I noticed, if we all watched the same thing, was that everyone's voices seemed slightly higher, as though it was sped up. Kinda like Nero was speaking with helium in him.

Anybody else catch Spock's (Nimoy's) ship crashing into Nero's squid thing monstrosity and exploding??

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

And so far, there's still not a single shot of the Enterprise in the movie that isn't just stunning!

Abrams may or may not be able to get these ships off the x-z plane, but he's certainly willing to shoot them upside down and rotating along their axis.

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

Music seems very "modern" to me. I miss the fanfare... Can anyone confirm if this is part of the score or not?

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

That was a thousand times more incredible than I'd imagined the trailer would be...

Favorite part: Kirk looking up at Uhura "so do I".

Re: New Trailer (Unofficially) Online!

I assume Nero's "James Kirk was a great man..." line is in the final showdown between him and Kirk on the Narada?

I would be surprised if the fanfare wasn't in the movie at some point.

I'm pretty sure that was a ninja-edit for the trailer. Show the ship speeding, that cut quick to somrthing exploding. But you might be right.

I loved the way the Enterprise looked and moved... every second she was onscreen was awe-inspiring, even if only a few inches wide.
