B5: What untold stories would you like to see?

I'm slightly curious as to what future "Lost Tales" JMS was thinking about, that is other that that "Garibaldi on Mars" story that was held back to the now dead Vol 2.

I'm mostly curious because the title sequence to Lost Tales included Kosh and the Vorlon Homeworld...foreshadowing perhaps?

It also included G'Kar and (IIRC) Doctor Franklin. It was more of a homage to all the worlds and characters of Babylon 5 then a statement of intentions for the (now defunct) series of DVD movies.

There was talk of a Londo story, though. It's a shame it (or anything else) won't happen. It seems that between Straczynski and Warner Bros. (and others) nobody has been able to make a smart decision regarding Babylon 5 since the series regular ended. Witness Crusade, The Legend of the Rangers, the book series that was announced and then cancelled, and now The Lost Tales...I can see why JMS would want to throw in the towel at this point. After a series that was so succesful dramatically, everything else has been either a missed or a failed opportunity...or both.

I can Imagine IPX suggesting a joint mission with Edgars Industries to make a bridgehead into Vorlon Space... Y'Know since Garibaldi did Kill a Vorlon that once.

I've always wondered what became of that recording of Talia's personality Kosh and the Electronic Monk made. And, why was she so... O. For Michael to snog in million years time at the party on the Vorlon Homeworld.

Franklin and G'Kar were obviously featured partly as a tribute to the actors and an affirmation that the characters at least live on. Plus of course they were representing their respective planets. Kosh (the character) is dead. The Vorlons are gone and the homeworld is sealed off for the next million years. So I'm curious if there were thoughts of a Vorlon story down the line at some point. Maybe a flashback, maybe something to do with Lyta, maybe nothing.

Is that a real character? Because in B5's rank system, a Major outranks a Captain, so such a person would be higher up than Sheridan.
Major Atumbe is mentioned a handful of times, but never actually seen.

Yes but that character was never, iirc, mentioned to be in charge of Nightwatch on the station. Ivanova asks (I can't recall the episode, but it's right before the whole dust-up in "Severed Dreams") for Major Atumbe to come and relieve her in C-in-C. I always though that the Atumbe was the second relief in Command and Control, or the person who was in the secondary C-in-C.

Nightshift, not Nightwatch. Radically different jobs. Of course s/he could have been Nightwatch too which is why s/he disappeared and wasn't asked if they felt like breaking free from Earth.

I wanted to see a Pakmara's "hump" express an opinion. Womans Lib already, y'know?

Still doesn't explain why the *relief* station commander outranks the actual one.

Jeff was a Minibari stooge. You don't think Earth Gov had serious reservations about putting some one with divided loyalties, low rank, and lack of experience in charge of such a pressure cooker?

Atumbi was there as a precaution for when Jeff's sleeper agent programming kicked in.

Or...

It's an excellent way to make sure that Jeff wasn't woken up continuously by assholes who want to talk tot h e guy in charge.

I want to see the Zathras brothers go on a "group" date. You never saw 7 brides for seven brothers? marvelous movie. :)

Well it was no secret B5 was likely to blow up or disappear into thin vacuum at any moment, so in the beginning at least I imagine all those bigwigs that didn't get the gig were secretly relived and kept shtum.

I want to know how Zooty got his hands on an apocalypse box. ;)

As for Ivanova, I think she outranked Major Kemmer too (the one Garibaldi knew as a kid) though I'm not sure if that was more because she was outside of her chain of command or because she was in a different branch of Earthforce.

They will, just as soon as the Gaim throw off the shackles of the Queens or the Abbai get into violence and let their men take charge...

Not technically. See my earlier post about B5's rank system.

Or maybe Ivanova just didn't give a crap. ;)

Well perhaps not out ranked, but certainly "out authoritied" her (invents a new word.) While I'm no expert of military organisation I have worked for the army as a civie administrator and I once saw (while trying desperately not to giggle) a WO2 tear a Captain a new arsehole for trying to tell said WO2 how to do his job. Almost felt sorry for the bugger trying to look superior while being made to feel like a complete fool by a non-com.

That's probably part of it.

As far as Major Atambe goes, while I'm not as rich as Jan who can afford to buy all those script books, I do have all the DVD subtitle tracks ripped to txt files (not as reliable as a script, I know) but a quick search only brings up one mention and that's in the Season 1 episode "Eyes".
As for what he/she is doing on the station, perhaps Atambe is incharge of overseeing the constant stream of Gropos that go through the station, so is not technically on the command staff.

Your files may well be more accurate than the script books when compared to the actual show, though, since many of the scripts in the books were earlier drafts.

JMS spelled it 'Atumbe' if that's any help.

That adorable little girl from the 5th Season Psi Corps episode... She was utterly going to brow beat bester until he slept with her. The art of seduction for the telepath has to be quite interesting since inner beauty and ugliness is worn as an outer flesh for those who know what to look for... And then Caroline comes back which makes me feel sorry for the wife on Mars being completely forgotten int he bargain after raising all his children. :(

As I recall,
they got divorced when Bester caught her cheating on him.

Like faith and reason, better to have both than just one. ;)

Yeah, I searched the whole archive for "Major A" since that seamed the easiest way of getting a hit (and maybe even a cheep giggle) though "Eyes" was the only one that turned up a hit.
The problem with subtitles of course is that they're not meant to be a 100% accurate transcript of all on-screen dialogue, but an aid to allow people with hearing difficulties (or noisy children) to follow the plot. So some phrases are shorted, some incidental off-screen dialogue is missed out altogether. So while it's been handy for my Wiki fact checking, it's not perfect.

I once saw a movie so bad, "really bad things" and "gladiator" too... Subtitles allow you to watch a movie while fast forwarding. :)

I want to know if the Vree still buzz backward worlds, probing the locals and mutilating the cattle?
