I care. When a show is a success it brings in fans.Who cares?
I don't watch a show because it's a success. Popularity is my least trusted metric so Matalas earns no points for me

I'm good.I care. When a show is a success it brings im fans.
Fair enough. I am not a fan of any post-Voyager Trek save for season 3 of Picard, despite much of it being rather highly regarded and successful.I'm good.
The list of popular things I'm not a fan of despite success is quite long.
It seems like professional critics kurtzman trek much higher ratings than fans in places like rotten tomatoes. Im not sure why that is. It was the same issue with the sequel star wars movies.Fair enough. Possibly because fans value different things than critics. It seems like professional critics kurtzman trek much higher ratings than fans in places like rotten tomatoes. Im not sure why that is. It was the same issue with the sequel star wars movies.
But what things? Professional critics seem to like so much that fans don't and hate what fans like. Its strange.Possibly because fans value different things than critics.
Not really. Take an art study class and exam the various functions within art. Rule of 3rds, use of color, framing, story set up and pay off, among others, all stand out differently to critics. It's not that strange. It merely is a difference of how they engage with the art.But what things? Professional critics seem to like so much that fans don't and hate what fans like. Its strange.
I'm not sure why that's important. You're not one of these people that thinks Star Trek must continue forever, as some sort of religious tent pole, are you? There are those types out there. I mean, you're a prime example of how the supposed fanbase is fractured all the way to its core.I care. When a show is a success it brings in fans.
Wait a minute. What?! What are you talking about? Of course it’s real. It’s all real. It has to be. I saw it. Right there on the screen. Seriously. Next you’ll be telling me Gilligan and the others were never stuck on the island! Or the vicious rumours about Milli Vanilli are true.it's not real anyway
(And it's not a religion, and it's not real anyway)
I always like the one where the professor made rechargeable batteries for the radio out of coconuts but people had to peddle bicycles (??) to charge them.Wait a minute. What?! Well he saved the series success. Season 3 will be the most remembered.
Star Trek TOS was a sleeper hit that became popular in re-runs. If you'd been around during the original airing, with the incomplete stats we have now, would you even be a fan?I care. When a show is a success it brings in fans.
What's funny is, I remember one discussion where I did bring up the fact Picard S3 did many of the same things the previous two seasons plus all of Disco have been criticized for but gets a pass by the fans, and the first response I got was "you ever think we just like watching Riker and Worf more than we do Raffi or Stamets?" Which sounded to me like even the season's supporters were admitting nostalgia was the only thing that season had going for it.It's kinda funny to me that season 3 is supposedly so different from the other serialized Trek shows, even though it does the exact same thing that was so problematic in multiple seasons of Discovery - waiting too long to reveal the answer of the mystery box, which ends up being underwhelming.
To be fair, I’d rather watch Kirk and Spock (the characters, not necessarily the specific actors) than any others. What's funny is, I remember once discussion where I did bring up the fact Picard S3 did many of the same things the previous two seasons plus all of Disco have been criticized for but gets a pass by the fans, and the first response I got was "you ever think we just like watching Riker and Worf more than we do Raffi or Stamets." Pic s3 was pure fanwank. The story was pretty weak, people give it a pass because of the memberberries and returning characters
I think the reason that S3 hit so well with many, is because that is what many were wanting the Picard series to be. Nemesis left a really bad taste in people's mouths and it wasn't a good send off to the TNG crew. S3 fixed that. At least for me anyway.
