What would you like to see in the finale episode of Season 5?

I'll go with a flashback. Captain Robert April with a huge afro. Lieutenant Chris Pike with short slick back dark hair.
Maybe Jeffrey Combs as Boyce. Everybody's in turtlenecks. Shiny silver glow to the newly minted Enterprise bridge.
The turbo-lift doors part and in rolls Admiral Archer in a wheelchair pushed by T'Pol.

The issue I have with Nog maxing out at Lt is that he has a ship named for him in Disco's future. It's not impossible, but I feel like he had to go out like George Kirk in 2009 to be commemorated like that.
It could be possible if he did indeed leave Starfleet as a Lieutenant and went on to make a significant achievement in civilian life. Problem with that theory though is if that were the case, the wall should list him according to whatever title he held either when he made his big accomplishment and/or when he died. After all, Spock is listed as an Ambassador on that wall rather than by any of his Starfleet ranks.

Ultimately, that wall clearly had no real thought put into it rather than being a collection of memberberries.

I would not like it if they did that, as that would basically throw out the entirety of "The Menagerie." SNW plays it fast and loose with continuity, but I find it hard to believe they'd be audacious enough to toss a TOS episode out entirely.
I'm not a fan of it, either. I mentioned it because I can theoretically see how it works, not that it's a good idea. And I suspect Mount wouldn't do it.

While I find some things dramatically compelling in the idea that the fate Pike knows is coming is somehow avoided, overall it has major problems, including an inability to deal with the implications (as the show is over) and wider butterfly effects on Federation and Starfleet history. It's the dramatic equivalent of setting a bag of dog poo on fire on someone's porch and then running away from the mess.

Many moons ago I predicted a flash-forward to Pike living happily on Talos with Vina and Tango, then for Una and/or Spock to visit him in full monster maroon get up.
I'm on board with this idea, too. I've had thoughts about a movie-era "Search for Pike" (television) movie. Sometime after the events of Star Trek III, Spock and Una go back to Talos IV to retrieve Pike because a Federation medical science breakthrough can rebuild him. I don't know what the conflict is, though.

That awful lower decks crossover seems to rule that out

"Relics" seemed to rule out Scotty knowing Kirk's fate aboard the B, too. If there's a story, one line of Boimler's will not stand in the way...
Oh please "relics" was written produced and aired 2 years before ST:GEN.

That WHY Scotty has 'no clue' about Kirk's fate.

Again, Star Trek franchise continuity has NEVER been 100% internally consistent and never will be.

If you need a rationalization, maybe your memory would be a bit out of whack too if you were retrieved from a Transporter Buffer after 70+ years.

That was always my take on it, that he lost a few brain cells in the process.

Or had a wee bit too much Scotch before getting into the Buffer!

Prime Archer is not alive in the 2260's via in a mirror darkly
No, not according to that library entry he's not. I was wishing for that Enterprise NCC-1701 christening to be depicted, which Archer attends - so 2245 in flashback - with Robert April and probably Pike serving onboard as a Lieutenant... since it's Anson's show and SNW depicted them in mentor/successor roles.

You're making my point. :)

Ron Moore didn't let what he wrote in "Relics" stand in the way of what he wrote in the final shooting script for Generations two years later. Yes, actor availability had a lot to do with that, which is the only reason why Scotty's in the script, but no one at any point said, "Hey, we can't hire Doohan here because he said that there."

Boimler implying that Pike's absolute fate is the chair would not stand in the way of someone later writing a post-Talos Pike story.

If you need a rationalization...
No. I don't. I've literally never cared to rationalize them.

I don't think showing Pike's ultimate fate differ - offensively after being sent to live out the remainder of his life on Talos IV - necessarily breaks canon... if that's what they want to do. The only holy writ here is the act of saving some cadets and being crippled by Delta Rays. I mean, if he was restored to mobility and left exile, not being mentioned as being back in active service during just 6 movies, wouldn't be a problem. We'll never Robert April knocking about in a monster maroon during the 23rd Century, again either... when like Pike he'd have good reasons to stop by and catch up with a ship he once had associations with.
