Le petit mort le ModThis thread both entertains me and makes me fear the eventual explosion of all-consuming wrath that Digits will unleash on some unspecified day. Either way, the key words are "sweet" and "release."

Regardless of who the writer is, the Enterprise always has phasers and photon torpedoes. The only real answer is "depends on the writer/episode/series", surely. Some people just write them as essentially the 20th century US Navy, others write them as almost total pacifists dedicated entirely to exploration and adventure.
Never seen it, thxHave you watched Chaos On The Bridge? It's a documentary about GR told through people that worked with him. It's informative and goes into details being referenced in this thread.
No more so when Kirky the android-lover chastises Chekov and Landon for romancing during a tense landing party mission. (Aren't they all?)Oh, the Federation frequently sucks and is full of hypocrites.

While I generally agree with “Well, of course it’s a military!”, it’s worth noting that Starfleet’s self-image changes depending on the era.
It's good to be the dancing Captain from ''Methuselah.'' Admittedly, Rayna was a metallic knockout.Any decent commanding officer would have reacted the same way. Wanna make googly eyes at each other? Do it on your own time.
Pardon me if I take everything Hurley says with aI enjoyed that. Thank you.
don't think that's the definer, as civilians in star trek, federation ones even, also have weapons, both personal and shipboardOf course Star Fleet is military, otherwise they wouldn't have weapons.
Correct.don't think that's the definer, as civilians in star trek, federation ones even, also have weapons, both personal and shipboard
It's a matter of authority and ability to use that authority to enforce their government's policy, defend borders and repel foreign intruders. This isn't an authority that can be switched on and off
Or military ranks or military protocal or military bases or military ships with military names....Of course Star Fleet is military, otherwise they wouldn't have weapons.
