For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

Who else had the technology and resources at the time? The change point might have to be earlier than the "Space Race" era
A different (shorter) WW2 and an intact British empire perhaps? Or something completely left-field, like the Mouse on the Moon lol

2 weeks worth of food seems like they're pretty royally screwed considering the amount of time it will take supplies to get there even if they surrendered.
Yup, which gives Dev enormous bargaining power...unless he feels remorse for his attack and decides to soften up his position. But I doubt it.

There's basically only 2 options now to get food - Dev's stash and the incoming Marine ship ( though i guess they won't be able to feed the Martians for very long) but the Martians surely don't know that it's coming so this leaves Dev's compound. So i figure it will escalate one way or the other. With their backs at the wall Miles will have no option but to go aggressive against Dev's group trying to find their hidden location and either bargain into handing it over/at least sharing or order an attack.

I don't know if the loss of life and the injuries due to Dev's actions will have enough effect on him. Technocrats like him usually don't see the human cost of their actions and go out of their way to avoid being confronted by it but he has no escape now, this was on him even if they tried to do it with no casualties. As has been said Palmer seemed pretty shook himself, those were people he knew and served until recently. Colleagues, maybe even friends and now he's fighting them.

Oh man, that ending. It's precisely why I love this show.:adore:

I don't know how our Martian brothers and sisters will fare, but I think the Soviets have made a tactical error by denouncing and blaming Polivanov. Dev will probably see the light, but we'll see.

Well their is always cannibalism to turn to. "Hey guys. The Domino's Pizza place has found a way to make pizza's again with a new mystery meat they won't tell us about!"

How was Irina communicating with Earth? Does she know about the Moon Marines, and is she maneuvering Polivanov for something.

I'm still theorising that Irina is Polivanov's mom.

Like she said, through the salt and pepper shakers. Amateur hour to the SDM from her perspective.

What if Nazi's won WW 2 and the space race was between America and Nazi Germany. America was helped by lots of Jewish and Russian scientist who were able to escape from the Nazi's.

If the Nazi's won the war in theory they would be working with Germany in this timeline. I would also imagine Nixon winning the 1960 election and basically being dragged into the space race as he is more concerned over potential WW III than winning what he see's as a unimportant popularity contest with the Nazi's. That all changes when he realizes JFK is popular in the polls and might beat him in a rematch election in 1964.
I had a theory slightly different: what if the US and Nazi Germany never fought?

After Japan attacks Pearl Harbor the US declares war on Japan. But instead of Germany declaring War on the US, Hitlers staff realize its a losing war. The US concentrates on defeating Japan; Germany is focused on Russia and ultimately defeats them.
The US only mildly supports England, but many in the US wanted to see the breakup of the British Empire (This was actually one of the caveats of the Bretton Woods discussions in 1944). Germany ultimately forces England into defeat and destroys the British Empire, making England a puppet state, lets say under Oswald Mosley. In the east China becomes an uneasy US ally in the fight against Japan and together the US and China defeat Japan.
By 1962 there are three spheres of influence in the world: Nazism which stretches from the coast of France to the Urals, through north Africa and the middle East; Capitalism lead by the US in the Western Hemisphere and Communism led by China in the East.
A sort of Cold War has emerged between the three powers: The US has economic might, the Nazi State has military might and the Communist China state has technology, although through uneasy trade alliances each power has access to portions of the other.

That would be interesting. Heck even if you didn't connect to the space race their is all sorts of interesting ideas in alternate history stories.

This could have worked if the Japanese had attacked a bit earlier, maybe in 39 too, and the US focusing all its economic and military power on the Pacific and only offering token support to the British and the Soviets ( thoughts and prayers my dudes) AND if Hitler wasn't such an idiot to drag the US into the european war.

Maybe even change the history further and have Hitler actually be a genius political and military leader as opposed to the idiot he was and you could have a very interesting What if about WW2 and the aftermatth, just without the weird science dimension hopping of Man in the High Castle.

I always love speculations like these, which is why I'm such a huge fan of The Man in the High Castle the novel...which doesn't have the weird science dimension hopping (aside from the mere existence of The Grasshopper Lies Heavy).

My fascination with What If speculations is one of the major reasons what drew me to For All Mankind in the first place and why I continue to love it so much (to bring us back on topic).

Some very early theories I had during the first two seasons. That Ellen would have inherited Cavalier Airlines and transmuted it into a composite of Space X and Blue Origin, the plot that was eventually handed to Helios and Polaris, that John Glenn's 1984 presidential campaign would be bolstered by the more succesful space programme and he would become President, and the astronaut turned POTUS eventually handed to Ellen, and that Aleida would have been the commander of an inevitable mission to Mars.

I'm not sure how China is the 'technological power' out of this group considering Nazi Germany and the US were clearly far more technologically advanced in WW2 and R&D requires economic power, plus Mao doesn't seem the type to create a particularly effective espionage machine for stealing technology, either. He shut down the universities to send students to work on the farms at one point, so knowledge and advancement wasn't exactly his priority.
