For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

Just how many nations have space programs? I assumed it was just America,China and the Soviet Union. Messing with Earth does seem to be dangerous. Mars doesn't have the supplies or even a army for self defense. Also in theory these countries could come up and just build another city were they have control. Mars is a big planet.

Brazil was said to have something. Don't know how much it developed. Japan and India have space programs and are part of the M6, but I don't know if they have individual capabilities to send crews into space.

Also one of the newsreels had mentioned Canada had their own space program and they decided not to be part of the M6. Not sure how advanced it is.

The M6/M7 includes the whole communist spacefaring coalition - Bulgaria, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Egypt, Greece, Hungary, Mexico, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Venezuela and Yugoslavia and the European Space Agency so Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, West Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

ISN is Brazil, China, Nigeria, Malaysia, Pakistan, South Africa, Saudi Arabia and Thailand.

The problem though is I think even in this alternate world lots of countries would have funding issues to mouth a competent space program. Especially when your competing against giants like America,Soviet Union and China.

Well there are space programmes and space programmes, in an earlier season there was a mention of Algeria having a space programme but that could be being able to put their own satellites into orbit, not landing on Mars.

Not Canada, it's stated they didn't Join M7. So I guess they either left the ESA, or just collaborates with the ESA in areas unrelated to the M7 mission.

While Earth has an army ( armies in fact) they don't have that in space. All they have is a few squads, maybe a companies' worth of space trained soldiers/Marines because up until this point an armed conflict in space was not in the cards as Ed and his gang defused this decades ago and everybody agreed to peacefully exploit space.

Now this has escalated fast but i don't think Earth or the M6 have a true space based military force with dedicated warships ( war shuttles ?? ) dedicated space weapons and units who only do space combat because they didn't need to have this and it's expensive to build and maintain these things AND it would undoubtedly lead to an arms race with ISN nations that could only end in catastrophe.

The coming shootout will therefore be limited in scope, certainly not a Starship Trropers style orbital drop. As i have said before a defensive battle or an assault on a defended and barricaded position always favors the defender, especially if they know the terrain inside out and the attacker only has theoretical knoowledge about the layout.

Building another city, what for? The only exploitable ressource now is the Iridum asteroid and that is for now under the control of Happy Valley. Building another colony on Mars would be cost prohibitive and i don't see the purpose. Earth has decided on a military solution and that's what we will be seeing in the rest of the season.

imagine if there was another spinoff series in for all man kind multiverse which was about another alternate earth where it was the us of a and the mercury 7 that became the 1st earthlings in outer space in the 1960s and along the way it was also the mercury 7 that were 1st group on the moon in the mid 60s

A fascinating spin-off would be one where it was someone else, not the USA or CCCP, who was first into space.

What if Nazi's won WW 2 and the space race was between America and Nazi Germany. America was helped by lots of Jewish and Russian scientist who were able to escape from the Nazi's.

And some Nazis.

If the Nazi's won the war in theory they would be working with Germany in this timeline. I would also imagine Nixon winning the 1960 election and basically being dragged into the space race as he is more concerned over potential WW III than winning what he see's as a unimportant popularity contest with the Nazi's. That all changes when he realizes JFK is popular in the polls and might beat him in a rematch election in 1964.
