For All Mankind Trailer - Apple TV- SPOILER

Something I've been thinking about since last season is perhaps Margo will perform some sort of self-sacrifice to earn back her respect within the scientific community. I'm not sure how that would work, even if she was somehow released from prison in whatever capacity.

Bragg is a lame duck. If they have an election during this season, maybe the next president pardons her.

They didn't even raise the issue that NASA might have a problem with Helios salvaging Sojourner I, so they're probably on pretty good terms.

I wasnt 100% sure if the suggestion was that both the M6 and Helios are planning to use Sojourner.

Another thing is we know Sojourner 1 was in 94/95 (also referenced as still on Mars in S4, so thats some plot-seeding), Sojourner 2 in 96, which means in sixteen years there have only been 4 more Sojourner missions (97, 98, 99, 00?), presumably before the Unity shuttles became commonplace after 99.

Where is Kuragin going to haul their ship from, unless Russia is going to loan them a Unity? Are there multiple Unity craft?

We've also got the Ranger somewhere (of which there are multiple iirc)

Is the Season 4 flash forward that showed Dev looking up into space going to be retroactively inserted so he's watching the departing Sojourner?

Switching back to Season 3 for one post. Whenever I hear Black Hole Sun from Soundgarden, I immediately think of the lift-off to Mars. I loved this song when I was in high school and the association with For All Mankind makes it even better still.

That's still one of my top 3 scenes of the series. Great use of that song.

Also with Sojourner being used for Titan, I wonder what kind of take-off scene with it we'll get. Mars gravity is about a little more than twice that of the moon. Wonder if they'll still have Sojourner vertical hover take-off and then fly out of the atmosphere. Or if it may temporarily be in orbit of Mars and get some kind of booster assist for the longer flight to Titan before leaving.

This to my thinking would be the best option a) you're have to carry and burn fuel in order to reach orbit though could refuel and b) use of an external booster would reduce the amount of onboard fuel you'd need to burn for the trip leaving more for the arrival at Titan and the return.

Use the space elevator skeleton and rail gun the Sojourner into orbit?

BTW, I was also realizing that I may have missed the dialogue...

How exactly does Helios own NASA's Sojourner? Did they say something like they bought it or is it considered abandoned and salvage for whoever takes it?

Or is NASA partnering with Helios for Titan (and I wasn't paying attention)

Finally watched "Home". Shut up.
I'm not crying. you're crying.
one of the most beautiful send-offs, literally, of a character I've ever seen.

Weird detail that I know FAM did on purpose because they are so into the weeds on these details:

So.. Ed Baldwin and Gordo Stevens are, in this universe the crew of Gemini 7. That shows, what everyone already kind of suspected, an earlier break with our world because our Gemini 7 was crewed by Frank Borman and Jim Lovell. Ok, everyone knows that.

BUT here is where I get into a really bizarre detail: Baldwin and Stevens are depicted wearing G4C spacesuits, or something very close to it. FAM costuming deserves an Emmy. Gemini VII was the only mission that actually wore the somewhat bizarre G5C suit that had its own zip up hood, somewhat like later Russian Sokol and Boeing Starliner suits.

Of course it's not meant to be film record. It's literally Baldwin's memories of the three closest people he lost in his life, greeting them on his way into literal heaven, but its interesting. Their Gemini VII was a somewhat different mission. I'm curious to see if we ever find out, maybe with Star City, where this world really had its branching off point.

I may be in the minority
almost certainly
but for me it was a weak episode. Ed didn't get the exit he deserved, no blaze of glory and the flashbacks to Korea felt like they dragged the pace. I was half-expecting there to be some sort of appearance by Lee, but apparently he was born im 58 and is a good 30 years younger than Ed.
Ed saved the first man on Mars from an extrajudicial murder, made piece with his grandson and daughter, got to have a few drinks and say bullSHIT a few more times. He went out on his own terms and they basically dedicated 2 episodes to it.

And Gordo STILL has to be his wing man in the afterlife. Not bad.

Well, shit is about to hit the fan. Happy Valley residents were already ill at ease with the handling of Jung-Gil's arrest and its immediate aftermath, but now that they know about the impending plans to shuffle everyone back to Earth, another uprising is undoubtedly imminent. I'm sure Ed would be proud of Alex's actions in leaking those documents (even if it was waaay to easy for him to retrieve them).

Avery is definitely a Stevens all right, for better or for worse, but hopefully she's more like Tracy and even Gordo than fucking Danny. Even though she's heading to the Moon, I imagine she'll be part of the Marines (along with Marcus when he's re-introduced) who are sent to Mars the quell that uprising and I'll be very curious to see how she handles that situation. Again, hopefully more like Tracy than Danny.

I loved the surprise cameo from Dani and I greatly appreciated how the show kept Krys Marshall's name out of the opening credits to maintain that surprise. The funny thing is just before that scene, I had finally made peace with the fact that Dani wasn't a part of this season because the show is now focused on the younger generations now. Much like the previous episode, her appearance is a nice passing of the torch to that generation and I'm content if we don't see her again.

Speaking of which, Wrenn Schmidt's name wasn't in the credits with this episode so it would seem Margo is indeed done for the season...unless she also makes a surprise appearance later on, but I'm still not expecting it no matter how much I want it.

Yes, the waste product has definitely hit the air propelling machine.

Loved how Alex had major Ed Baldwin energy in this episode, while not genetically his son he is in every other aspect that matters and he did what Ed would have done in his place, just with a little less cussing and shouting  . Also loved how Alex immediately spotted the weak design elements of Dev's Mars city, i.e. no personality and room to make it individual which Alex spotted immediately. That city was designed by engineers like Dev, who often enough forget the human element. It has been and is a big problem with tech in general that user friendliness is often neglected because it's only engineers top to bottom that made the product and their minds work differently than many of the people that will use the product. This is why the iPhone was such an instant hit because it pushed the engineering into the background and put the user in front. Say what you will about Steve Jobs but that was his focus.

Loved Dani's appearance too, took me completely by surprise but was very welcome. Unless they truly wrote out Margo ( which would have been a bummer having her just walk out of the scene) i think she'll get a last hurrah. Maybe Aleida can contact her to crunch those numbers required to land on Titan, give Margo one last contribution to science which is all she ever wanted.

We're not even through half the season so much is still going to happen, we know Marines will come to Mars ( chuckled at the subtitles during the Marine scenes when they wrote soldier :p) and now there'll be a major shakeup. I wonder who knew what about that whole plan, i'm 99.9% sure Dev was in on this, possibly a driving force behind it and now everything will blow up.

Can't wait for the next episode.

She was credited in episode 2 and wasn't in it, so this isn't like 24 where they only credit main characters if they're in the episode. Without anyone left on earth who would visit her, I think her story is done barring a surprise appearance for the season finale or next season.

Ed would most definitely be proud right now.

I'm so glad that Mr and Mrs slimeball had their love-in interrupted by the news, as their smugness was becoming unbearable. I dont know how Dev is involved in all of this, but I'm sure he's going to have to explain how his hopes for a Martian city manage to coincide with a reduced human presence. Elites only??

He really is Elon-adjacent if his 'future of humanity on Mars' is that city and all the workers who toiled and died to help get to the point to make it possible are kicked to the curb for robots
