Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

Legacy isn't going to happen because Star Trek isn't enough to drive subscriptions to P+ and the MAGAists now running paramount are going to make their programming more conservative and safe and guaranteed profit-drivers. The focus is going to be on franchises with mass appeal that will drive subs and not rock the boat with 'wokeness'. So expect more Yellowstone spins offs, medical dramas and cop shows.

Sadly I think trek as we know it is done. Anything we get from the new paramount is going to apolitical action schlock. I expect the IP is going to be rested until they either decide to sell it or America comes to its senses in 2028.

I've lived through the drought of the 70's and the gap of the 2000's. We'll be fine. Plenty of other great TV, movies and books to occupy those hours while Star Trek gets its much needed break and refresh. It'll come back strong. And then the cycle will repeat itself.

People complain when Trek is on.

People complain when it's not being made.

Was there ever a time Trek fans were actually happy?

With the toxicity of the fanbase, I genuinely don't care if trek ever comes back. The majority of the fanbase has absolutely no idea what trek is about and I'm not sure I'm interested in spending more time among them.

The best approach would be a new Enterprise with a new crew post Picard. Something new and fresh.

Sadly, it will most likely be another reboot with the same old characters played by different actors.
they tried something new and fresh with SFA and people rejected it.

So i think what they'll take away from that, is that people must want TOS . So yes, probably yet another TOS reboot

Why do people assume a total reset/reboot would have to go back to the 23rd century?

Studio still will want to make money off of it and the 23rd century seems to be the sweet spot for both TV and merchandising.

Let's see...

  • 1979 with TMP.
  • The 80's had four feature films, the beginnings of the 24th century, the comics from Marvel and DC, which were fantastic.
  • Star Trek: Strategic Operations Simulator for the consoles of the time. I had the Atari 5200 version then. Currently, I have the Atari 2600 version.
  • Did I mention all the great novels and technical manuals of the time?
  • The run up to Star Trek (2009).
From my perspective the best time to be a Trek fan was the 1980's.

I have zero interest in Star Trek: Legacy.

I was born in 84. So, yeah definitely couldn't be a fan at the height of the 80s 😆

It was so vibrant back then to be a fan, even though I still wasn't an adult. Now it all just seems so paint-by-numbers. You could never have Kirk commanding the Excelsior now.
