Does anyone think Star Trek Legacy will ever happen?

the MAGAists now running paramount are going to make their programming more conservative and safe and guaranteed profit-drivers. The focus is going to be on franchises with mass appeal that will drive subs and not rock the boat with 'wokeness'. So expect more Yellowstone spins offs, medical dramas and cop shows.

So, in other words, conservatives know what people actually like?

So i think what they'll take away from that, is that people must want TOS . So yes, probably yet another TOS reboot

My personal theory is that the public's feelings about Star Trek (and Star Wars) resemble the adoption curve, with audience "A" preferring TOS (as well as Luke Skywalker over Han Solo and having always enjoyed the prequels), and audience "B," which is more vocal, favoring TNG.

J.J. Abrams, who famously didn't watch the franchise, but identified it with Kirk and Spock, would be a "skeptic" (or "laggard") in this context.

In that context, something like Legacy isn't likely to escape the "B" audience zone. Paramount's attempts to reach a new audience have, I think, been meant to focus on "skeptics," but that has effectively re-started the adoption process from scratch.

I think streaming Star Trek has been sustained (to the extent that is has) by "visionaries" from the "B" audience, with only Picard (which drew some of the "pragmatists") and the very beginning of Discovery (which "enthusiasts" tried and rejected) breaking out beyond that.
