Im at about 20 minutes. At the part where Jay den wants a debate about klingons. So far its boring. The klingons certainly ended up as nothing. Im hoping something exciting happens soon or they explain why the klingons failed.

Another mistake just like forgetting betazoid irises are totally black. They need to hire real star trek fans to keep this stuff straight. Klingon fangs is a pretty well know attribute if Klingons. To forget that is pretty incompetent. Sigh.
My natural inclination is to assume that it was a decision, not a mistake.
But we'll see...when the number of "decisions" starts to climb higher I might start to suspect otherwise.
The Augment Klingons in the Season 4 arc on ENT didn't have sharp teeth. Neither did Kruge or his crew in TSFS nor Chang in TUC.
I don't recall Chang's daughter, Azetbur, having fangs either.
Or Klaa and Vixis in the fifth movie for that matter.
Clearly, Jay-Den belongs a lost tribe of TOS Movie-Era Klingons . . . .
The ones in TMP probably had the scariest, sharpest teeth of them all, and that was makeup from 1978 or 1979.
Nor did Kirk/McCoy's attorney in TUC. Which means that while Worf has snaggle teeth, his grandfather did not.

I've watched this episode a number of times now and I can't express in words how much I love it.
I normally am not the biggest fan of klingon episodes but this one felt like it brought a lot of new cards to the table. The 32nd Century Klingons are grounded in what we knew of them but they have also developed new traditions and a broader culture in the 800 years since we last saw them.
I loved the relationship between Jay-den and his brother. I have one older brother and sadly he never connected with me. I idolised him and he wanted nothing to do with me. We don't speak now, but I would give anything to have a brother like Thar. He loved Jay-den unconditionally and without judgement and saw the beauty in his brother's difference. I really hope we get to see him again in more flashbacks.
I also liked the implication that while the solution to the Klingon problem was obvious to the audience, it wasn't necessarily obvious to Starfleet and The Federation. We have to remember that The Federation and Starfleet have spent 100 years playing defense and not really maintaining their diplomacy skills. The older generation like Vance are not out of the box thinkers because the War College was training their cadets to follow orders and rules and recite what they learn in textbooks. This is emphasised in Vitus Reflux in how the War College can only copy pranks from hundreds of years previous instead of using their imaginations and coming up with something new.
Also, the chemistry between Darem and Jay-den is absolute fire and I want a Jay-den+darem+kyle polycule stat.

Except Ake is over 400 years old and was actually part of the time pre-Burn, plus has had intimate, personal experience with Klingons. Also, Thok being half-Klingon herself obviously knows Klingon behavior and reasonings well. (Her scene with Jay-den giving him that other perspective of his father is proof.) And given the solution was essentially the 'Vulcan Hello', there's plenty of historical records (about 1,000 years worth) of Klingon encounters and customs, so it doesn't really require any out of the box thinking.
