Well for every Rings of Power there is a Fallout, Invincible, Hazbin Hotel, and The Boys.Interest piqued, but do not trust Amazon not to fuck it up because it’s…well, Amazon. We live in hope, though.

Good enough. This is Amazon. We'll get 8 episodes, max.
Ted Lasso got away with the word "Wanker", which I think is a better insult.Though I wouldn't object to an SG team member from the British military calling everyone "cunts."

For all of O'Neill's witty putdowns of the Goa'uld, nothing would top the sort of insults a Cockney could come up with. Or for that matter, the average British teenager. With Brad Wright involved, it'll probably be PG or PG-13, as that was the kind of show he always wanted the Stargate franchise to be and was against Showtime's attempts in the early years to make SG-1 more adult, like the nudity in the pilot episode. Maybe they'll push the envelope a bit more from what they had in the TV shows, the SG-1 DVD movies for example did include profanity which SyFy wouldn't have approved of, but I don't think we're going to see the sort of things in this new Stargate which are commonplace on The Boys.

I like the idea of a public program, perhaps opening with an attack on Earth, a very public defence, and then a revelation of the existence of the stargate program to the world, then going from there, would set it aside from earlier entries and allow it to be its own thing while retaining something new. You could even open that as a "10 years ago" or even "20 years ago" documentary style (when it airs it will have been about 20 years since "Air", which was the last time we *know* the gate was still secret), and thus moving onto a new generation who have dealt with the knowledge since being in school. Hell make the revelation happen in 2010 with the Aschen, and while it appeared to be successful and all went quiet, now in 2030 something else is cropping up and it's time for the next generation to handle it.
They could definitely use a General as a character and Sam would be a great option, even if she doesn't appear as often as Hammond.trying to think what actors could potentially come back.
RDA I think is unlikely, he's retired and hasn't acted in anything since 2013. Even if he did Jack would be past retirement age so he'd just be a civilian anyways.
Amanda Tapping still occasionally acts, but mostly focuses on directing and producing. She has said recently she'd be willing to come back though. Sam could be a General, or have taken an early retirement, she'd be in her late 50s.
Michael Shanks and Christopher Judge are still acting. Daniel would be in his early 60s, Teal'c would be.. old.
IDK how you feel about physical media, but the remastered blu-rays are of excellent quality. A big step up from the DVDs and all 3 series' are in one big set from VEI.The only that sucks about this for me is that I never got to finish Atlantis or even start Destiny because it was aired at odd times here in the Netherlands and is not available for free streaming here, unless I buy subscriptions on Amazon. Hopefully this means those shows will become part of the standard Amazon prime streaming package and I can finish them before this starts.
Yeah, I thought Momoa was terrible on Atlantis. He couldn't even enunciate vowels and consonants clearly -- he just mumbled his way through every scene. He's improved remarkably as an actor since then, and these days I tend to enjoy his work.
A similar case: Ryan Gosling. I first saw him as the title character in the Young Hercules spinoff series from Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, and I thought he was awful there. He replaced Ian Bohen, who'd played young Hercules in the pilot movie and HTLJ episodes and was a far better actor and far more convincing as a young version of Kevin Sorbo, which just threw Gosling's awfulness into sharper relief. So I was very surprised when, a decade later or so, I started hearing about him being this acclaimed breakout star. I wouldn't say I'm particularly impressed by his acting in the movie roles I've seen him in (basically just Blade Runner 2049 and Barbie), so I haven't come around on him as much as I have on Momoa, but at least he's a competent actor now, which is more than I would've said in 1999.

It's an ongoing plot in the show how other nations deal with America having the monopoly on stargate travel, including the Russians attempting to run a program on at least three different occasions (which is logistically difficult since two stargates on the same planet interfere and you can't really make use of both at the same time). So, imagine in the Stargate world the real world knew about the secret and that America had the gate and nobody else (been a long time since I saw the show, maybe another country found one and I just don't recall now!), what that would do to relations with other countries. Imagine other countries using spies to get in, assassinate, etc. In order for the whole world to knows angle to work, the series would have to avoid the constant threat of real world consequences.

It's not very scalable as a form of transport is it. Running 24 hours a day, and used say a train with a 30tph headroom and 1,000 people per train, you're talking 750k a day for a whole planet, so 375k a day in each direction.
About 10 million people a day take flights on Earth.
I think the Paramount+ Treks have had a pretty good ratio of new vs nostalgia, so I would be fine if they took that kind of approach with this.Cautiously optimistic. I love Stargate and will be thrilled to see some new content, though a part of me worries they'll overdose on the memberberries/nostalgia like many (all?) modern revivals of older shows do.
I had just assumed they did it out of sign of respect since they were creators of the original version of the franchise. That seems to be pretty standard with these kind of revivals these days.Again, we don't know if they're "aboard" in any creative sense, since "executive producer" often just means someone with a financial stake in the show, like an investor or a copyright holder. In recent years, Devlin & Emmerich were trying to convince MGM to do a reboot, so it seems they and the TV producers were pitching competing projects. Maybe MGM decided to go with Gero's project and got D&E to accept the outcome by giving them a token EP credit and the payment that goes with it.
Haha, it took a second to get what you were refuring to here. I always forget the he's played by Christopher Judge in the new games. Now the question is will Teal’c be given an axe and be tasked into looking after a boy?
Oh, I didn't realize that. If he's that fond of the franchise, maybe he could come back then. I had assumed to he was too big of a star to come back to a franchise like Stargate.Actually, I could easily see Momoa agreeing to appear. He's still friends with his Atlantis costars, especially Flanagan. I could see him doing it for the fun of it.
I don't know, they've done pretty good with Rings of Power, The Expanse, Fallout, and Invincible. I haven't watch Invincible yet, but most people seem pretty happy with it, but I'd put the other three shows up towards the top of my list of favorite shows.Interest piqued, but do not trust Amazon not to fuck it up because it’s…well, Amazon. The Russians did eventually get there own gate, and by the later part of the show, the Stargate Program had gone international, and pretty much all of the major countries were part of it. So all of that kind of stuff will have been resolved decades ago by the time we get to the new show.In the UPN TV series "Seven Days", the Russians were trying to get the sphere had their own Crononaut, once they found out about the program and their program failed (this is mostly from memory, a tad from looking it up really fast).

In the failed "Greatest American Hero" revival pilot, "Greatest American Heroine", the aliens force Ralph to step down after he's revealed to be the hero and the whole world knows about it, forcing a new hero to be chosen.
