Ah yes, because Stephen Colbert, the totally not failed and totally not washed up late-night talk show host, has such a great pull (Especially among the targeted YA audience).
Stephen Colbert's nonpartisanship will attract many viewers from across the political spectrum.

People are going to watch Starfleet Academy just because of Stephen Colbert...

It’s just stunt casting. And for a voice role at that. Also “old news” by modern news cycles.

I wonder...will SA pull a reverse Discovery and partway through the series, head irreversibly back in time to SNW's time period?

It'd be an interesting problem: living back in time with all this future tech/history knowledge you can't spill too much of unless a paradox demands it, rather than getting used to all the innovations and happenings you missed. Poor Doctor, though; separated once again from where he belongs.

I wonder if they will acknowledge that Earth wasn't even part of the Federation again until very recently. It should be in theory maybe a little less advanced and more run down than some other Federation worlds. They had basically isolated themselves from the rest of space. Either way I am certain that Stacey Abrams won't be shown as still being the President.

And yet you wouldn't be saying a thing about nonpartisanship if Starfleet Academy had a comedian who only appealed to Republicans.

Just ignore him.
Good advice, but I still wanted to put the above out there anyway.

And those young, multiethnic and diverse cast members, I'm assuming. I mean, it's the year 3192. By the late 32nd century current hangups shouldn't be around, and that's going to be attractive to a lot of viewers in the SA audience.

I watched the trailer this weekend and I found it to be on par with the first, though more revealing. Both are probably the best trailers since the first 2 Discovery trailers in 2017.

No, I'm not all that interested in personal lives of cadets, but that's just part of this type of show. Maybe they will surprise me.

The things I do like are those I've discussed here before that keep being happily reinforced by what we are shown: the post-burn Federation rebuild, the strengthing of alien relations, etc.

It seems that we're going to see some threads that tie into the Burn era, such as Nahla's pre-rebuild life and career.

Everyone wanted Klingons, looks like we're getting more than a few.

The look of the show I would describe thusly: The Burn era worked off the bones of an advanced post-Temporal War era: the sleek, white stereotype of the far future and it didn't change much in Discovery. When society is rebuilding, they go back to adding some character to the sleek lines, and more color. It's a very impressive look.

I would say the recent ruckus made him bigger than ever. What good timing. No publicity is bad publicity.

Wouldn't they have to deal with Disco's evil AI?

And he has now gotten four notifications, which is just the attention that he craves more than air itself.
Appropriately, I was just discussing with a parent that attention is always reward that humans desire. Validation is preferred, but being seen is better than being ignored.

It was destroyed with the jump to the future to ensure no additional threat was there or could better safeguard the Sphere data.

But you need a house for the "darker" people. Sisko could work since he did do some questionable things but Lorca works better. Especially with the Harry Potter connection.

We don't know if Prime Lorca is dead. Still holding out hope he appears in SNW.
Then House Georgiou is the place to be, Lorca is an amateur compare to Her Most Imperial Majesty, Mother of the Fatherland, Overlord of Vulcan, Dominus of Qo'noS, Regina Andor, Philippa Georgiou Augustus Iaponius Centarius.
