Seems like an oddly generic first look to me. If someone said, "Post a scene that is in every Star Trek ever..."

Still, considering our first look at season three was from Four and a Half Vulcans, I'll take it!!
Edit: I forgot that technically our first look at season four was from the puppet episode, so season four is possibly on par with three.

I know how these scenes will end. The landing part gets to the surface and finds a crashed Enterprise. But it's a Enterprise from a alternate universe were all people are puppets. We see this when we meet the Enterprise puppet crew trying to fix their ship. That's right! This is how the puppet episode begins .What they aren't telling you is this is also a universe were the puppets also sing. The puppet episode is actually a puppet musical episode!

I think a live episode could actually work. Basically the crew is trapped on the bridge and can't get off it. Transporters are down. Turbolifts aren't working. The ship is dead in space with shields also down. A asteroid is coming towards the ship and if they can't get the ship to move even just a little bit the asteroid will hit the ship destroying them. They got the main viewer so they can sometimes talk to Scotty in engineering but the key is to fix something on the bridge before time runs out. Also one of the character is seriously injured so the doctor is also trying to keep them alive with nothing but a med-kit.

Any identification of the ship? It'd better not be Botany Bay.
I literally said in my post that it's a unidentified lol

But it's not earth or starfleet based on the design.

Yeah that's on TOS. Pike is obviously around Kirk's current age (circa 2266) in the flashback sequences of TOS S1 The Menagerie (circa 2253).

That was not the context of Mendez's statement. He was comparing Pike's age to Kirk's age right in the moment. No, it doesn't make sense in the context of the episode, but that's what he was doing.

With all the 'gimmick' eps, let's be thankful they presumably will never attempt the ol' "Live Episode".

Maybe they'll do a Drew Carey and have an episode with goofs that you have to note to win a free walk-on role in the show.
